Cockatiels are great pets to have! Though, you have to make sure that you have the time and the patience that it takes to owning one! Here are the pros and the cons about owning one:

Pros:

They are always there for you when you are down!

You can teach one to do tricks, and very few will talk and whistle for you, for, males are better at doing that then females!

You can feed them almost any fruit and veggie that you have in your refrigerator, just make sure that they don't have seeds, for, they are toxic to all birds!

They get along with most kids and most adults, though, still keep supervision with them when around kids!

Cons:

They can be a little loud, but not as loud as most macaws or parrots.

They can be messy, especially when they have gone "food hunting" for seeds, and when they get their "dust" everywhere. For, they are 1 out a few bird breeds that make their own "dust."

Some prefer not to be touched on the head.

They can live to be about 15 years or older.

They thrive for attention everyday, meaning one would need at least 1 hour a day to be let out of the cage.

They can be expensive when it comes to vet bills, toys, and other stuff!

I hope that I answered your question! Thanks,

~ Cockatiel Lover!

If you can put up with noise get a cockatiel if you can't don't bother. Go to a pet shop and stand in the bird bit for a while, see if you can take that noise home. Most are noisy so don't get one thinking it could be quiet. Apart from that they are entertaining birds very good pets.

Never put the two species together,or else your Cockatiel will be minus a few toes or even be killed.these two species even avoid each other in the wild,by all means keep them in separate cages next to each other, but never let them be together unless they are babies and are reared together. But for safety keep them apart.

They are sweet and lovable once they get use to you so they make good pets.
If they were not hand fed but parent fed they bite because they are scare of you so it take a while for them to get used to your hand.
So if you don't want to get bitten by a cockatiel get a hand fed cockatiel.

Ok, cockatiels are awesome birds. They are not noisey at all, get 2 of them and they will be occupied with one another.. If you do lights out at night and put a towel or blanket over there cage, they will be quiet at night.. Good luck..

Pros:
Easy to maintain (food, cleaning, grooming)
They clean themselves
Males can whistle if you teach them
Quiet
Can eat a variety of foods
Perfect size (in my opinion)
They get attached to you

Cons:
Can bite if they are scared of you (can't really hurt you)
Females bite more than males
They shed (can be annoying sometimes..not messy though)

I own two cockatiels. One is a male lutino, and the other is a female cinnamon pearl. The male was never scared of us, but the female only trusts me. She gets scared when family members come to play with her. She bites a lot if she doesn't know someone (cause shes scared) but she flies to me when she sees me. Thats a big plus (they get attached to you). The male is well behaved. Doesn't bite and gets along with anyone. In fact, many of my friends wanted to get a cockatiel because of his playful behaviour. You can feed it ALMOST anything! Cockatiels are great pets :)

Pros:
funny to interact with
can be quite affectionate
males can be taught to whistle tunes and sometimes talk (but not very clearly)

Cons
can react quite loudly when separated from their flock (you)

If you call cleaning out a bird cage a con, then that's another one but generally they're not very messy.

I think my little female cockatiel is a beautiful pet. I get her out, she sits on my shoulder and I can do anything with her. I fold clothes and she's happy to be with me. I can have a snooze on the lounge and she will snooze with me.
