@ 145 lbs your BMR is close to 1,600 cals. that's the bare minimum you should be consuming. the BMR is the amount of energy that your body needs just to functional normally if you were bed ridden. once you add in work, school, walking around and any exercise you may even need to increase the cals above the BMR just to facilitate fat loss.

your body isn't even getting enough nutrients for it to perform the most basic life functions. it's going to hold on to fat stores even harder.

this is all basic human biology

The first 30 mins of excercising wont burn fat. So make sure you are doing more than 30 mins of exercising. Maybe take a 30 min walk or light jog if you can for the 30 mins then do your dance classes. Yeah and stay under 1000 calories a day. Try some jumping jacks, situps, pushups etc.. until you get tired (do this 5-6 days a week). For some people it is harder to lose weight than others, but everyone can do it, no excuses. Don't give up on it, good luck!

Because your not going about it right. Eating too little is not going to help you lose weight because your putting your body in starvation mode so its hanging on to all your fat stores as hard as it possibly can to keep you alive. you need to be consuming at least 1200 calories a day just to cover your basic bodily functions such as thinking, heart beat, respiration as well as other cellular functions. the healthy amount of calories for someone who is active is 1400-1800calories a day. also you have to pay real close attention to what those calories are coming from. a lot of people think they eat healthy but they really don't. this is because they have been duped by marketing companies that sell food. these companies basically lie to you to make you think the food they are selling you is healthy when its not. to avoid this take the clean eating approach where you limit your food intake to that which is closest to its natural state (i.e: meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk, veggies, fruit, ezekiel bread, whole grain pastas ect.)

your not eating enough calories. the minimum should be 1200-1500. if your body isnt getting all the nutrients that it needs it will retain water to keep hydrated and such. if you eat a 1200 calories diet rich in vitamins and nutrients (from veggies and meat and such) you should begin to lose some weight. but you need to eat a proper diet because restricting your body does more harm than good.
