Please see Genesis 2:2-3:

"And on the seventh day, God ended His work which He had made.
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it He had rested from all His work which God wanted and made."

Seasons don't need the rest, nor do the Wind or the summer rain... Why can't God be as they are?
God is said to be ALL-POWERFUL, so why does HE need "REST", if that is so?
Can someone help me understand this? I'm SO confused.

GOD HAS REST FROM CREATING

CREATING IS ON HOLD, WHY?

Man is born dying, the imperfections of sin means any thing can happen to any one at any time, [ the life sustaining earth was sacrificed to save Noah and his family, but when God's rest from creating is up, then there will be a new heavens and a new earth 2Pet.3:13 ]; it is not our fault, we are still here, a wipe out would be so easy, but there is a plan of salvation for the offsprings of Adam, the angels have sinned, Satan will have a time limit from Eden to Rev.20:1-6,12,13; No Satan 1000 yrs. The heavenly Rev.3:12; for the new heavens are with Jesus at his 2nd coming to resurrect 1Cor,15:22-28;
the earthly for the new earth. Rev.21:1-5; All is made as new as before Eden.

All God wanted was a day when we could reflect upon what we had done in the previous six days and he hoped that in the six days to follow we would try to make improvements.
He had not expected all the retail outlets to be open. Now we all speed round in ever decreasing circles and it is inevitable that in due course we will have insufficient time and money to do nothing more than stay at home on a Sunday.

Good question!: Why would God get tired?

Well, if we dig deeper we see that God never gets physically tired.

Isa 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, [that] the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? [there is] no searching of his understanding.

The only time God experienced physical weakness is when His only begotten Son, Jesus (who is like God . . . He was there during creation Gen. 1:26, Heb. 1:2) came to earth for you and me. Jesus (the Creator) experienced hunger, pain, coldness, weariness, etc for us. That worse than us becoming, lets say, . . . a roach to save roaches . . .

So, a revised question may be, "Why did God (who never gets tired) create a special day just for resting". I mean He could of made ANYTHING else but instead He said oh, we and our creation will just stop working on this day. Why? I think you will find your Bible answer here: http://www.sabbathtruth.com/

Do I read some Sarcasm here?
God rested from his works of creation. Meaning God has stopped.
That does not mean the universe rests and stops.
Your very atoms are all from God and as it is written He knows how many grains of sands there are on the Earth and hairs on your head.
I cannot understand how atheists explain every prophecy as pure coincidence from the earth starting to show the signs of global environmental catastrophe and the return of the Jews to their homeland.
God rested, does not mean God has stopped working His purposes.

Dear Friend,

If you look up the word "rest" in Hebrew in this context ...it means that God looked back at what He had created and was well pleased. It's like an artist working on a beautiful portrait and then when done... steps back, takes a deep breath and says, "Ah... this is awesome."

Yes, seasons do need to rest. In the fall, plants die, leaves fall, and they... REST. They aren't dead, but they are resting until Spring when they begin to grow again.

Then there is "Spiritual" rest which all Christians who have taken up their crosses and follow Jesus "will" experience.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I WILL GIVE YOU REST.

Be sure that when you are reading the word "rest" that when you read it in the Old Testament, you need a Strongs Concordance to find out what that particular word means in its context in Hebrew. For the New Testament words look them up in the Strongs Concordance in Greek.

Sincerely in Christ Jesus,

lostnsavd...

God is meek but certainly not weak meaning He wasnt worried about His frailty but set aside the 7th day as a Holy Day that should be dedicated to Him and for our human frailty

Sure the seasons take a break. It is not perpetual summer, nor perpetual winter, right?

God also says that believers will enter into his rest, that is eternity. Could rest just mean a cessation of work?

We are still in God's day of rest. Read Hebrews 4:1-11
Verses 3 and 11 say: "For we who have exercised faith do enter into the rest, just as he has said: “So I swore in my anger, ‘They shall not enter into my rest,’” although his works were finished from the founding of the world.... Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest, for fear anyone should fall in the same pattern of disobedience. "

God is not resting for his sake but for ours and to put to rest the vital issues which were raised in the Garden of Eden.

**Edit**
The Truth... the Scripture you're thinking of is at 2 Peter 3:8, 9: "However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. 9 Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance."

does rest mean to lay down and take a nap cuz you are so tired. or does rest mean to stop what you have been doing ? i cant define all the words in the bible as to how they were meant to be understood. but seems to me like a person studying the bible should consider the fact that people in that time had a much larger vocabulary than what we are used to in todays world of slang.
