Why? All these things can cause death, but death is inevitable anyway, so why so much resentment towards these 3 things? Cheers for your responses.

People abuse drugs for many different reasons. Some people use drugs because of peer pressure. Some may think that they might be immune and the effects of drugs won’t affect them. When some people are stressed and need something to get them past their problems they may take drugs.

Others might take drugs just for a thrill or just curiosity. Once people get caught on drugs they usually become dependent. When people take drugs it over stimulates the reward path on the brain causing them to become dependent.

Why Do Some Get Hooked?

Numerous other factors contribute to increasing drug abuse. Among these are disillusionment, depression, and a lack of purpose in life. Additional reasons are economic problems, unemployment, and poor parental examples.

Some who have difficulty with human relationships use drugs to help them cope in social situations. They believe that drugs boost their confidence, making them feel witty and likable. Others simply find it easier to use drugs than to accept responsibility for taking control of their lives.

Boredom is another reason people turn to drugs.

Hi Question one. I will tell you way people use and delight of useing alcohol & drugs!!! the raison is that when a life stayle is at it pick you ten to spend more and trate your sefl better and that eating, drinking, and drugs, because that what was prisented to that person at the moment of haveing fun, so they threy it they like it and then they get hook on it, and you need will power to control your comcumcion, it not bad because it would be like the 1930 when they band alcohol, the cocieatey was not right but they tryed but it was unband to satesfy the people, so it is all how you look at it, some try it at a bad time so it sime at it never let hem get better, so it not so bad if you that it in moduration.

Your question is much too general to respond to here, but it's not hard to find the information you're looking for using Google. Inhaling smoke into the lungs, no matter the substance, has adverse effects on one's health. The incomplete combustion produced by burning plant material, like tobacco or cannabis, produces carbon monoxide, which impairs the ability of blood to carry oxygen when inhaled into the lungs. There are several other poisons in tobacco that constitute serious health hazards to long-term smokers from a whole range of causes; lung cancer, heart attacks, strokes, impotence, low birth weight of infants born by smoking mothers. Depending on the actual compound, drug abuse may lead to health problems, social problems, physical dependence, or psychological addiction. Use of these drugs may lead to criminal penalty in addition to possible physical, social, and psychological harm, both strongly depending on local jurisdiction Some drugs that are subject to abuse have central nervous system (CNS) effects, which produce changes in mood, levels of awareness or perceptions and sensations. Most of these drugs also alter systems other than the CNS. But, not all centrally acting drugs are subject to abuse, which suggests that altering consciousness is not sufficient for a drug to have abuse potential. Among drugs that are abused, some appear to be more likely to lead to uncontrolled use than others, suggesting a possible hierarchy of drug-induced effects relative to abuse potential.

Sometimes a person will end up abusing things because when they start drugs or start drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes they do not really plan to get addicted but then after awhile they end up addicted to them. Most of them are very sorry for starting the bad habits that they become addicted to.

We can throw blame in many directions, and yet when it comes to choosing to take that next pill or puff or drink.........
it all comes down to:
I feel lousy and I want to feel better than I do right now.

Mental health workers call it "self-medicating".

The sad thing is the person has no idea what their body or mind or emotions truly need to BE BETTER. So, they reach out for the first thing they can think of to only momentarily FEEL DIFFERENT.

Some people have had problems in their life, and they feel that drugs take the pain away and alcohol makes you forget.
Its then that they get addicted and thats what causes their deaths.

So its like the people's problems cause the addictions.

People abuse substances because the benefits can outweigh the consequences, and frequently the person doesn't consider the consequences before partaking.

Certainly many do not "abuse" these substances. Many use them for fun, and also for spiritual experiences. I just wanted to add that, not directly seeing that mentioned in the other answers.
