Ok I have two questions, my first question is: Can someone explain why I am getting glasses but I have 20/20 vision? They Eye doctor said something about the way my eyes focus and something about up close vision, I was confused.

My Second question: When will I receive my glasses? I went yesterday (12/18/07) and I had a prescription and I picked out my glasses, and they said they will come in about a week. Do you think they meant a week at the latest or withing a week...or what?

Thanks so much! Oh and if you care here are the glasses I am getting :) http://www.go-optic.com/viewframe.asp?id=18776&x=4&page=DFRAMES

i have 20/20 vision also, but sometimes have trouble reading things far away, especially when im driving. with me, its just that i have issues with relaxing my eyes so sometimes i cant see as clear as i should. so i have glasses also, but really dont need them very much. when you get them, you really will notice a difference once you put them on.
as for getting them, if they said you will get them in a week, it should be a week. you can always call and check on the status of them with the dr office too.
i would suggest maybe sitting down and asking your doctor when you go back the reason as to why he is giving you a prescription for glasses. that is the best way to get the answer you are looking for!

If you're far sighted and young you can be getting good distance vision, but to get it you are having to use up some of the muscular effort that your eyes normally keep for obtaining a reading focus.

This may not even cause any fatigue if the amount isn't too large, and it doesn't affect the coordination of the eyes (it may or may not) but, when you come to read, your available, reserves of focussing effort will be less.
Closework for you will simply require more effort than for the average person.
Again, if the eyes are happy to carry that load, there's no problem, and galsses are not required.

But you may wel lfind the glasses are useful, if only for prolonged closework, just in terms of comfort and reduced tiredness, even of they make little or no difference to your letter-reading ability in the distance.

"In about a week" is a week, plus or minus a couple of days.
Don't bank on under a week, but you could ring them after five days, esopecially if they've got Christmas closing coming up.

If your doctor said you're having problems with close items, like reading, then he is
probably saying that you're far sighted. People that can't see distances are near sighted.

You'll have to check with the doctor's office to see when your glasses will be in. I doubt if anyone on yahoo could answer that. They're nice glasses though.

To get the correct answer to these questions you will have to ask #1 to your eye doctor and #2 to the place where you ordered your glasses.

Any other answers will be purely speculation.
