Right click on your desktop, click Properties, then select the Appearance tab. Click on Advanced, then select an item from the drop down list and if you can change the font it will appear none greyed out so you can make a selection.

Make your selections, make any other changes to your theme, then go back to the themes tab and make sure you save it as a new theme, with a name. You can create as many themes as you wish.

Before you make any changes to your system, setup a manual Restore Point. It is fast and easy, and if anything goes wrong you can go right back to how things were easily as you have a point with a name which tells you instead of guessing at a date.

Click Start---Help and Support

Look for System Restore on the main page, or a sentence with it in it such as "Undo changes too your computer with System Restore", under actions or tasks or whatever.

In the first page, click the radial button in front of Create a Manual Restore Point.

On the next page give it a decriptive name, such as Created Themes and click Next, and then Finish.

Now, if anything goes wrong, and simply deleting your custom theme does not work, you can use that Restore Point to fix things back to normal.

It is a good idea to get in the habit of setting manual restore points before any changes are made, including downloading and installing software, updating device drivers, any change make sure a manual restore point is created first so you can be confident in undoing any damage which may result. You might be surprised the damages even small downloads or changes in configuration can cause.

Windows might now object but many programs install a special font for themselves. They are the ones you find you don't know where they came from.

Changing a programs font could cause you problems.
