It is neither upside down nor backwards. A flag while worn on the arm should be placed so the union is towards the front of the person wearing the flag so the flag appears as if it were in motion.

It's neither upside down nor backwards. Go to your nearest flagpole, look at the flag, now go look at the other side. Holy crap its not backwards is it. As previously stated the Blue Field is always towards the heart to show that Soldiers only move forward in battle.

Like everyone else said, it's not upside down... though it can look backward. But the stars (aka the union) of the flag should always point towards your heart (according to my Marine husband) which symbolizes your love and loyalty to the USA.

its not upside down but it is backwards. the reason its backwards is when a soldier is moving, the flag appears to be flying and the person moving forward, if it was the other way it would look like we were retreating.

Umm, the Army doesn't have an upside down flag but it has a backwards flag and for a reason, if that is what you're talking about. Why? Because the ARMY IS ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD. That is the reason why. It is not however ANTI-AMERICAN but PRO-AMERICAN.

What troops are you referring to? The only time the flag is supposed to be shown upside down is under times of extreme danger or distress.
If I didn't know better I would say you knew that. And I doubt any troops are wearing the flag as such.

It's just "backwards" not upside down (unless they hold their arm up over their head)
It is "backwards" to appear as if the Soldier is charging forward in to battle and the flag is flying back.
