You could have sinus drainage going down your throat or breathing with your mouth open while a sleep, or breathing in cold air when out side--those will give you a sore throat. Check with the Dr. and see what they say about your tonsils.
Don't go by what anyone else tells you, ask mom to take you. End the argument.===

i got my tonsils removed when i was 15. now 16. I have been getting red throats and high fever, whenever my throat hurts. No, you dont have to get your tonsils removed. unless, you are always getting sick and getting sore throats, then yes. But at your age, when removing the tonsils, it can be more painful , then childrens becuase u r an adult.. so if you want to make your decision, think abot the pain!!!
When getting your tonsils removed, you have to take loads of pain killers!!! you could hardly eat and/or drink!!! plus, your ear will ache and ring and it feels like you have the worse earache ever!!!!

I am 32 and just had mine out a few months ago. didn't think people my age get them out, but they do all the time.

Do you keep getting strep throat?
Do you test positive for strep?
Is the back of your mouth have a large white patch?
Do you have bad breath all the time?
Do you snore?
Do they look like pus pockets?
(I never snored or had bad breath, but I had large white pussy stuff in the back on both sides, and I tested positive 3 times in 1 month with strep.)

or is it just a little red, and with rest and OTC medications make it go away.

If you do need them out, do it sooner than later. I was in sooooo much pain for like 2 full weeks. I guess I should have had them out when I was a kid. Good luck, and go see a ENT doctor.
