drink some oarnge juice, lie down with your feet above heart level. this will relieve dizziness by shunting blood away from extremities and towards your brain. tylenol does not relieve dizziness or prevent fainting in any way.

The need for instant microwave solutions is not the answer. If you just donated blood the usual procedure is to take it easy and eat something, preferably something that will provide you with quality nutrients and sugar. Blood is not measured in pounds but in fluid ounces and I'm pretty sure they only took a very small amount which is all your body will tolerate. Taking more would kill you. Taking pills will not help, Call it a day and take a rest if you feel dizzy. If you are young your body will replace the small amount of blood and you will be as good as new in no time. Some things need time, not pills.

Hi Sweetie,
Congrats! on the Negative for Diabetes, my Mother has it & it's not pleasant at all, nor wud it be for a girl so young, just goes to show U that it has no time frame on age at all. Did they not offer for U to lay down at the Donating Centre? As they shud have. I think other than medicating rself, which cud make it worse, jus lye down with a warm clothe on r forhead,
being on the net maybe over exerting the way U feel & wind up fainting r more dizzy. I commend U as well for donating but think perhaps U shud ask them to take less blood. Hope r feeling better which shud be 1/2 an hour r so. BTW, I was told U shud eat before giving blood, did U? Take Care, lol
LOL, Diana D

Drink some water or juice and lay down. Eat a small snack like crackers or trail mix. You should be fine in 30-45 minutes. If not, then call the blood donation center.
BTW, they only took a pint.

Don't take any pills. Drink water to help replace blood volume and drink some fruit juice for quick glucose replacement and then lay down for while.
No, you didn't donate 2 pounds of bloods, only perhaps 2 units. One unit is 455mL or 0.95 pints. Just shy one pint but for simplicity's sake, we call it one pint. You can safely spare two pints. You'll be fine.

I used to donate about 4 times a year. But since I started working nights I don't donate any more. The last time i donated I fainted because i had worked all night and was tired. I should donate again..My blood type is AB+ and is needed.
