My wife LOVES Racheal Ray, and found this in “Everyday with Racheal Ray” magazine. I hope this helps!
How to Ship cookies:
Don’t let your cookies crumble. UPS store packing expert Julie Sterling reveals the secrets to safe shipping:
1. stack cookies and roll in bubble wrap, forming a log.
2. Pack into a small, tight box, with more bubble wrap, then place into a slightly larger box to prevent crushing.
3. Wait until the last pickup of the day. And send frosted or meltable cookies by air – planes are cooler than trucks!
For the speed you want... FedEx or Overnight shipping... but that will cost ya!

I managed a Mail Boxes Etc for 5 years and for the most part food made it to it's destination fine. You should send it Next Day Air or at least 2-day. Someone once sent an entire cake once as a joke needless to say it was destroyed. Seal whatever your sending and float it in packing peanuts with at least 4 inches all the way around the item, that seemed to be the way that survived the best. Have a packing store pack it if you can. Fruit cake, muffins and cookies survive the best.

Of course. We've done it for years, cookies, gingerbread men, homemade fruitcakes, home dried fruit, homemade jelly, etc. Sent stuff to service personnel in combat zones, too. I take a good, sturdy box, line it with aluminum foil, put the cookies in until the box is full or wrap the cookies in the foil or a baggie and use packing material, popcorn or newspaper to keep them from getting broken. Then, just seal and label the box. Take it to the post office (UPS is too expensive unless the item is over 5 pounds.) You can choose to do over night, 2nd day shipping.

In a box or tin that, in turn is packed in another box. A little cushioning in the form of wadded up newspaper or styrofoam peanuts (better) should do the trick in preventing the baked goods from being broken apart during transit.
A holy joe shouldn't be used. It shouldn't be used to return substandard stuffed mushrooms back to the manager of the dining hall either. (Although, I have to admit, the manager did buy some new crates to transport the meals out to the site workers after that.)

I just sent some stuff to Pittsburgh and I just made sure it was wrapped up well in plastic wrap then put it in a container then put the container in a box. It's probably the safest way. I just sent it regular USPS.

Use one of those round metal cookie containers that you get at Christmastime. Tape it up well with packing tape.
