This situation reminds me sometimes of a " robin Williams " in a movie where he physically grows but not mentally. I compare myself to him but more matured. Till yesterday I was fond of rubik cube , I solve them in 6 minutes . Now i just sit idle trying to think

Actually, most of us spend a long time being a mixture of adolescent and adult, often well into our 30s if not 40s and 50s, and even then...... It really is a weird process, and everyone is individual. Depending on our childhood experience, some parts of us seem able to grow up and become responsible adults quite easily, while other bits stay stunted and unable to take on the full sense of adulthood.

You say you've a history of depression. My hunch would be that going into psychotherapy might help you all round - to identify what it is that feels adolescent and why and whether it's a problem, and to see what lies underneath the depression and disentangle it so you are less likely to become depressed in the future.

You don't need to justify yourself. Being you is just fine. The only thing that could be a problem is that you don't feel OK about yourself.

It sounds like you are an adult. I play PC games and I am 30. I got Quake 3 from my landlord who is 80! He loves it.

Cartoons are kind of catchy. I dont watch them because 'Adults arnt supposed to'.

You dont simply become 18 and 'pop' become an adult. You atre changing all throughout your life, right up until you die. Dont sweat about enjoying leisure persuits, and having some 'you' time, while you get on with traditional adult responsibilities.

PS I am having a kid next year.. I guess THAT is when I will really grow up:)

There is no real sharp line between 'adolescent`
and 'adult`.
Most of us never really mature.
You've got a job. You handle that.
You say you are responsible. - OK.
The trick is to be able to tell when you can allow
yourself to enjoy a bit of irresponsibilty and when not.
From what you say, you've mastered that.
Unless you've got a problem with your behavior,
stop worrying about it. That CAN be a problem.
I'm happily retired, and still enjoy some measured
irresponsibilty from time to time.

i believe you are an adult who puts too much stock in your friend's opinion. it is only his opinion at that moment that you are a child. we all have childish moments. would you be willing to take up meditation? it has a very calming effect on the mind and body. meditate for 20 minutes morning and evening by sitting quietly.let your thoughts come and go. plan a exercise routine and stick to it. just take care of your mind and body. do you live at home or on your own? if you live at home, contribute to the household expenses and help with the housework.

you are an adult when others regard you as such most of the time. My father is 81 and most in his family think he is as selfcentered and manipulative as a 13 yearold. They don't consider him to be an adult and never have.
