I just read this random paragraph:

"Following Mother Teresa's death in 1997, the Holy See began the process of beatification, the second step towards possible canonization. This process requires the documentation of a miracle performed from the intercession of Mother Teresa. In 2002, the Vatican recognized as a miracle the healing of a tumor in the abdomen of an Indian woman, Monica Besra, following the application of a locket containing Mother Teresa's picture. Monica Besra said that a beam of light emanated from the picture, curing the cancerous tumor in the shape of George W. Bush. Some of Besra's medical staff and, initially, Besra's husband insist that conventional medical treatment eradicated the tumor. The beatification of Mother Teresa took place on October 19, 1962, thereby bestowing on her the title "Blessed." Unless dispensed by the Pope, a second miracle is required for her to proceed to canonization."

To become a saint you have to perform two miracles?

You don't have to perform miracles per say. 2 Miracles have to be attributed to you. The theory behind this is;
A saint is someone who has died and gone to heaven because they had lived a righteous and holy life on earth. It is assumed that, because this person is in heaven, they are close to and they see God. Therefore, the people that had been close to the saint before his or her death, will start to petition the saint through prayers, so that the saint can "intercede" for them to God. Intercede here means that the saint is assumed to ask God to grant the prayer requests. Therefore, if a prayer is answered and it is attributed to a saint, it is deemed a miracle. It is called a miracle as on most occasions, their is not scientific explanation for the act that constitutes a miracle.
P.S. There is a normal controversy on this issue, that the people seem to be praying to the saint. This is not the case though. The faithful are simply asking the saint to pray (intercede) for them to God.

Hope I have answeres you question buddy!

Three miracles. You should submit this Monica paragraph to the great Randi - he loves that stuff. He is offering a cool million if it is true. Heck, I'd pay a mil if it were true. Wait, maybe 2 mil - especially if Bush was involved.

According to the Scriptures, all Spirit indwelt, born anew believers are "saints". "Saint" in Greek is "hagios", which basically means consecrated or set apart ones.

Act 9:32 And it happened, passing through all, Peter also came down to the saints dwelling in Lydda.

Act 26:10 which I also did in Jerusalem, I also shut up many of the saints in prisons, receiving authority from the chief priests; and they being put to death, I cast a vote.

Rom 1:7 to all those who are in Rome, beloved of God, called-out saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1Co 14:33 For God is not of confusion, but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.

Well ...I didn't know a person could be beatified before her death. She was beatified in 1962 and died in 1997 ...?
Things are quite different nowadays. Before in the old days a person has to wait about 500 or more years before becoming beatified and some more years to be canonized.

All throughout the new testament you can read about the saints and nowhere could I find these parameters for sainthood. In fact, according to the bible, to become a saint all one had to do was be obedient to Jesus Christ. Was Mother Theresa obedient or not? It sounds like the catholic church feels she wasn't since they are trying to grant her sainthood after the fact.
