Last year, I was painfully shy with guys. This year, I have heard from two guys that I don't shut up! However, I talk a lot to avoid awkward silences which I am terrified of. How can I find a happy medium between being shy / over-talkative, while making the guy I'm talking to happy, too?

Become comfortable within. Forget about how you appear to them, and focus on yourself. Only speak when you really have something to say. Allow silence here and there, and allow someone else to be responsible for filling it.

I don't know that there's a "happy medium", but instead of talking allllll the time-- ask some questions and let the other person (or people) talk too! That will involve them in the conversation and they won't notice if you're talking too much!!!

When a girl talks fast / a lot to me, it makes me feel that shes just trying to spew out things as fast as she can so that I don't lose interest.
Don't worry about silences. Through my point of view awkward silences are "tests" ( if you will ) to see how a person reacts to the absence of conversation.

Guys think all women are too talkative,personally I would rather go out with a talkative woman than one who expects me to do all the talking.

issues exchange after years in a dating, dont comprehend why. two times a month isn't all that lots to invite. Its better to talk too much then be silent and awkward, stay the way you are and ignore the criticcs.

i know a girl who is guilty of being over talkative, but most of the time i dont mind it because whenever i cant think of a topic of conversation shell bring something up :p

you should have to change that, its your personality. i talk way too much and guys are all over my jock :/ but my man loves that i talk alot. you will find a guy who loves the way you talk their ear off :) good luck!
