Most everytime I touch my cat like petting or hugging her, she starts to wash her coat. Should I be happy or insulted? What's the meaning of that? Do most all cats do that after human contact? Thank you yahoo. Littabitts

It means she loves you! She's "licking" the taste of you. My cat does it all the time. Cats are very sensitive when it comes to taste and smell, and since you're kitty's owner, she enjoys your scent.

There are two theories on this behavior. One theory proposes that the cat is getting rid of the human smell. The other is that the cat is furthering the pleasure of his association with you by tasting your scent.

Most of the time they are just trying to get their fur back the way they like it. Like if some one were to rub your head for awhile and mess up your hair you would probably brush it back into place when they were done. Also it can cause little itches that need a little scratch after, so its not unusual.

you may desire to coach it that doing particular issues produces a unfavorable result. some human beings spray the cat with a water bottle, and the cat jumps off. Or double sided tape works on issues. whilst the cat jumps up, it quite is going to at last relate leaping on that particular merchandise with something it hates, like sticky tape or water. For counters and tables, some human beings positioned cookie sheets on the sides so whilst the cat jumps on them, they fall. Or they positioned the sheets completely on the table and positioned some water in them, so the cat will bounce acceptable off. additionally, empty pops cans on the counter or table artwork. whilst the cat knocks in to them, it makes a noisy noise and scares them, and that they run off. My kitties used to bounce on a pile of ornamental pillows I easily have. They stored falling over whilst they tried to bounce on them. After approximately 6-7 cases of falling, they now stay far flung from that stack of pillows. The meowing outdoors the door... nicely, that isn't supply up lots. the main suitable wager is to enable it sleep in the room with you. whilst it is going on the mattress and tries to sleep by ability of you, proceed to place it in it quite is mattress, anyplace in the room it would desire to be. this would get no longer hassle-free, however the kitty will study that once it quite is mattress time, he/she has his/her spot in the room. And yeah, the kitty is possibly throwing itself against the door. it quite is extra like a roll into the door. Spay or neuter facilitates with habit besides. examine into that if it hasn't been performed yet. desire this facilitates!

Cuz youze is Derrrde.

In actuality it is because cats are olfactory orientated and they automatically clean themselves when a foreign scent is on them. they prefer it the other way around where they leave their scent on everything else, that way they know what is theirs and that they are 'home'.
