I have to say I agree with you, I'd probably end up arrested, whether my child was handicapped or not.
Abusing a child is just the lowest, most disgusting thing you can do, whether they are handicapped or not.

I had it the other way around. My mom was in a coma from the doctor putting her on the wrong meds. When she woke up she couldn't move or speak well. She could just roll her eyes and make expressions with her eyes. Well one day when a nurse was walking towards her she rolled her eyes and got a real hateful look on her face. I knew something was wrong so I hung around. When I left the room and watched outside I noticed the lady grabbing my mom by her shoulder (hard) and pulling her up. She had just had an IV took out of that side of her chest and I'm sure it was very sore. Not only did I come in the room and tell her how horrible of a person she is. I made sure she would not be helping my mom at all. Now my moms back, and healthy, but she stills remembers that nurse. She said she was always ruff with her, and put it on channels that I repeatedly told her my mom didn't like. I do have experience with people like this.
If it was my kid... I would be arrested. I don't have kids, but I love my nephew with all my heart (my brother and I are very close siblings). I would hurt the person badly before the cops arrived. I wouldn't even care what the punishment is. Nobody should mess with defenseless children, especially a handicapped child.
I hope this never happens. I would make sure that the nurse was never around people again. I hope this helps.. star for you.

I have a related experience, not so much abuse, but definately taking advantage of a disabled child. My best friend was born prematurely with cerebral palsy so she is in a wheelchair. I was at Borders one day with her (we are both 14) and a random lady came up to us and started kissing her over and over. I was really unsure as to what to do. Then, she starts thanking God over and over for her and starts asking her about if she knows Jesus and things like that (we both are Christians, but it was verrrrry awkward. My friend's shirt was wet because she can't control her drool. The lady felt the need to point that out to me and tell me what a rotten friend I was for letting it get wet because she was going to get a rash. After a few minutes of criticism, I just said "Brittany, I think your mom wanted us meet her now" and we left. That lady still haunts me, but I wanted to really tell her off and say how dare her take advantage of my friend, especially the kissing her.
Anyway, I think anyone who does anything horrible to an innocent child should be locked up.

OMG, it wasn't even my child that I saw the daycare worker roughly handle. I thought it was inappropriate, she no longer works there. It wasn't anything major but you could tell she was handling the child out of frustration and if she can't control that then she doesn't need to be in the profession of handling other peoples' children. So god help if I ever see one of them handle my daughter that way.

If they were actually abusing my kid regardless of mental capacity, I'd be hauled off to jail and charged with one of the following, 1. charged with aggravated assault 2. charged with attempted murder or 3. charged with murder. Just depends on how quickly the cops showed up.

The blue and white will come for me and the red and white will come for the dead person that hurt my child.
In other words I will go to jail and the other person will be rushed to the hospital.
I'm sorry to sound like this but I am against people hurting people who can not defend themselves.

As a mother of a non-disabled child. (as I am thankful for that everyday) I would have that person arrested. I couldnt even imagine someone hurting a child that couldnt defend themselves, or tell someone it happened.

She'd have charges slapped on her, no matter if my child was disabled or not.
Mothers, don't do anything to get yourselves arrested. You don't want your kids going into foster care as well.

My answer is simple. Gather as much evidence as possible without alerting the abuser. After the evidence is gathered, take it to the police. My stepson is autistic as well, so I understand your problem.
