Aren't christians taught to be caring and forgiving? We don't try to tell christians that we are right, so we don't deserve that kind of treatment.

from what I can tell someone not being a xian is offends their beliefs (esp if you're an atheist).

Also they get told day in day out that the only "good" people everyone else is evil

Of course this doesn't apply to all xians

It really is kind of sad that the Christians who claim not to do all the stuff that gives Christian a bad name can't connect dots. Obviously enough people are doing it to create these opinions in the first place.

Be careful of generalizations but there are some who will dislike someone because they aren't christians also. I don't understand why it should matter to them if you aren't. I don't dislike someone just because they are christians. I will look at if they are a good person or not. Their religion, lack of, or their belief does not enter into my decision.

I am sorry you have had that bad experience. When someone tells me they are not a Christian, most of the time, I just ask why, out of curiosity. If they want to know more about my faith then I share it. I don't like to preach to people though and try to show people by my actions what being a Christian means to me and my family.

Think that is bad? Try being a Christian, saying so, and still be hated by "Christians".

Jehovah's Witnesses experience it everyday. The Bible told us to expect it. The "Christians" only like those like them. We are not. "The world is fond of it's own." Jesus said.

I'm a Christian and I don't dislike people who are not. I care for everyone and I try not to be judgemental.

There are people of every religion (or lack thereof) who automatically dislike people who don't agree with their beliefs... its not just Christians.

There once was a little brown Hindu man by the name of Ghandi. He said, and I am paraphrasing, that Christianity was wonderful. What he was waiting for though, was for many socalled Christians to practice it. This world needs more Ghandis.

I didn't know that we disliked you if you told us you weren't a Christian. But hey, I didn't know I believed the Earth was flat and only 6,000 years old, that I didn't believe in dinosaurs and was afraid of science, that I wanted a theocracy and (Per an earlier question) that I didn't believe in global warming until some whack job on yahoo answers informed me of these things.

It's a good thing you "people" are here to tell me what I believe and don't believe in as a Christian.

I dont know why they would be like that to you - I have loads of non-christian friends - Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Budist. Infact some of my best friends while I was at uni were Muslim. I personally "judge" people by what kind of person they are not what religion they are or aren't.

Not all Christians feel that way. But I feel your pain. I get similar reactions pretty frequently so I try to ignore it. Hypocrites are too hard to get through too and generally aren't worth my time and effort.
