Go to a Saab DLR. Tell them that you have a Saab with x# miles on it. Ask them, what does it cost to maintain the scheduled service? And what kind of things go out at X# miles.

Any car over 50k miles will have more issues and higher maintenance.

Good Luck!

I had three Saab turbo/ stick /900's in a row, buying them > 50K miles and giving them to kids or friends > 120K miles. This was pre-GM and the experience was uniformly good. I was lucky to find some idiosyncratic car mechanics who specialized in Saabs and they not only kept maintenance up but found used parts whenever something needed fixing. They swore they never saw an engine wear out.

I haven't had the guts to try again after GM took over but had great luck with the pre-GM models. ( Plus they were a joy to drive. )

Yes. Esepcially the older versions. Any Saab that is pre-GM, and if it is going to need maintance or new parts, they are going to have to search and search for rare parts, possible get them from Sweeden. Newer ones, arnt as bad at all....so I guess it depends if you are going to lease/buy new.

Luckily, in my history, Saabs are overall very reliable, especially compared to other speciality European cars.

you should first look at the owners manual and see what the maintenance recommendations are. then consult a local auto technician and price the maintenance. the labor will probably be more because they are a pain to service, but the parts shouldn't be that expensive. is the car used? was the maint. kept up and was there a maint record kept? if not and if it is used you should have a local auto tech inspect it first.
