You have to be careful with solvents; some will destroy the camera finish or melt plastics (nail polish remover! NO!)
Essentially, the sticky stuff needs to be soaked in a solvent to lose its adhesion. There are two types of solvents, if my college chemistry is anything to go by: polar solvents and non-polar solvents, and like dissolves like.
A polar solvent would be something like water. So if the adhesive is polar, water will loosen it. If that doesn't work, you can try a non-polar solvent. A non-polar solvent would be something like cooking oil or WD-40. You could try a little on a paper towel to get that residue off, then clean up the oil residue with just a little bit of windex on another paper towel (don't spray the camera!).
Just don't get a solvent all over the camera and avoid a harsh solvent that'll melt the plastic or remove any dyes.

use rubbing alcohol. wet a cloth with it, then let it sit on the sticky stuff for a few minutes. It will come right off.
Be very careful with Goof Off, if you camera is painted it will take the paint off too. If you get it on the lens your lens might be ruined.

Use Goo Gone carefully. Do not use fingernail polish remover, Alcohol might work as well, but Goo Gone is less harsh. Don't get any of those products on your lens or into any seams.

There's this stuff you can get called "GooGone"...I know I've found it at Walmart, but I'm sure you can find it at hobby stores as well. This stuff is supposed to be safe for nearly everything....they even advertise that you can use it on the face of a picture and it won't damage it. Here's the site!

You could try this stuff called 'Goo Be Gone'. I'm not sure about everything you can use it on, but I've heard that it works.
