I am a graphic designer that was formerly in the Air Force Security Forces (84-89 back in the cold war) and I was also in the Army Reserves. I would like input from soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines about what kinds of a designs they would like to see on t-shirts. I designed one for the Security Forces and it has sold OK even though I haven't been promoting it. You can see the t at http://www.cafepress.com/ryrys it's at the bottom of the page. If have a design you would like to see, please let me know what you are looking for.

Your T-Shirt for the Security Forces is a perfect example of a military t-shirt design done right.

Neutral colors, a big simplified logo (or Corps Badge or crest, unless it is too ornate-looking), the name of the particular sub-branch or unit in a sharp font. Nothing flashy, but still a bold looking shirt one could wear with pride.

My Regiment's t-shirt is of a similar type of design, only the artillery badge and unit name is smaller and on the upper left corner instead of larger and in the center.

What you'll want to avoid is big colorful designs - especially with camouflage. Avoid mottoes and sayings, unless they are short and simple. The t-shirt should give the impression you're proud, but not full of it or otherwise flamboyant.

"Freedom Isn't Free" written on the front and "...Some gave all" on the back.

with different images:

1. On the back a bald eagle sitting on a tombstone with a purple heart clutched in it's beak.

2. A missing man formation with bi-planes on the front and modern jets on the back.

3. A burial at sea on the back.

4. A vet in a wheel chair blowing a bugle in a cemetary on the back.

5. A helmet hanging on a tombstone with combat boots and flowers infront of the tombstone on the back.
