You can make pinwheel sandwiches, they are easy to make and don't take up too much time. Just use tortilla and use the ham, cream cheese, and mayo. Roll them up and cut them into slices. Put a toothpick with an olive through each one.

Pigs in a blanket are very 1950s and are also very fattening. Try making some sushi instead ... and you CAN make it easily in 'kid friendly' versions ... with even some 'sweet' versions to serve for dessert.
Basics:
You'll need to get 'sticky rice' (available at any large grocery store, either in the 'rice' section, or in the Japanese section. Have a cloth or 'bamboo roller' (you may actually use a bamboo place mat if you cover it with a piece of wax paper). Once the rice is cooled, take some and 'pat it out' to just over 1/4 inch thick into a large rectangle. Stuff it (list of ingredients follows), roll it, and you are 'done' ... refrigerate it until just before serving, when you will 'slice it' about 1-1.5" thick, and arrange on platters.
For the 'very brave' you should have some with 'seaweed' on top of the rice ... make sure the seaweed goes down only one edge, and leave plain rice at least 1/2" at the other for 'sealing' it. On top of that seaweed, one the 'no rice' edge you may place any 3- 5 of the following things:
julienned carrots
avocado
cream cheese
julienned cabbage (use Chinese cabbage if possible ... it has a 'lighter' taste than American cabbage)
imitation crab
tuna (yes, you can take it out of a can, and you'll get a LOT of shushi from a small can of tuna ... use WATER packed only, please)
cooked green beans (the longer the better, and as thin as possible)
baby corn (it comes on the 'cob' in cans, and you can eat the tiny cobs ... it tastes WONDERFUL
artichoke hearts ... plain or marinated, cut into 'thin strips'
julienned turnips
julienned jicama
julienned cooked beets - plain
juilenned cooked beets - pickled
When you are placing your 'filling' make a long line of it about 1/3 of the rice.
Roll tightly and 'squeeze slightly' to seal.
For this, you'll need tiny cups of soy sauce and tiny bits of 'wasabi horseradish (WATCH the kids, they may want too much, and wasabi BURNS ... you need only a 'nail-head' full and flat for a while piece of sushi)
For the 'sweets' you should use things like fresh fruit (bananas, mandarin oranges, apples, grapes (sliced), kiwi, etc.)
For the 'cream cheese' thin it with a tiny bit of milk and add a tiny bit of sugar then 'whip' and spread.
You may use bits of fresh mint (spearmint, peppermint, etc.) to 'jazz it up' and make a 'sweet and sour' sacue to dip it in.
This is only two suggestions, but I'll bet if you get brave enough to try this, you'll create a new generation of sushi lovers, and even some sushi makers ... and sushi is one of the best 'diet foods' around, so the kids won't be 'getting fat' but they will be LEARNING about 'new foods.'

Deviled Eggs Recipe Ingredients 1 dozen eggs 2 teaspoons dijon mustard 1/3 cup mayonnaise 1 Tbsp minced onion or shallot 1/4 teaspoon tabasco Salt and pepper Paprika Method 1 First hard boil the eggs. (See how to make hard boiled eggs.) Fill up a large saucepan half-way with water and gently add the eggs. Cover the eggs with at least an inch of water. Add a teaspoon of vinegar to the water (this will help contain egg whites from leaking out if any of the shells crack while cooking). Add a pinch of salt to the water. Bring the water to a boil. Cover, and remove from heat. Let sit covered for 12-15 minutes. Drain hot water from pan and run cold water over the eggs. (At this point if you crack the egg shells while the eggs are cooling, it will make it easier to peel the shells.) Let sit in the cool water a few minutes, changing the water if necessary to keep it cool. 2 Peel the eggs. Using a sharp knife, slice each egg in half, lengthwise. Gently remove the yolk halves and place in a small mixing bowl. Arrange the egg white halves on a serving platter. Voila!! Enjoy!!

RUM BUTTER CASHEWS
1 cup granulated sugar
¾ cup rum
2 cups whole, unsalted cashews
2 oz. butter
Bring sugar & rum to boil in medium saucepan. Cook for 3 minute, or until candy thermometer reaches 234 degrees F. Remove from heat & add cashews, stirring constantly to coat w/syrup. The sugar will become white & grainy after about 30 seconds. Return saucepan to heat & re-melt sugar, adding a few drops of water if needed. Watch carefully; do not burn. When syrup has turned a rich caramel color (about 2 minutes) & the nuts sound hollow at the tap of a spoon, remove from heat & stir in butter. Turn onto oiled baking sheet, spreading out in one layer, separating any pieces that are stuck together. Cool completely. Store in airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
