Well, I don't think its going anywhere, its still entertaining to the fans who follow it, I'm sure it will get more high tech as the times go on...I'll still be watching it till I croak..If its not on TV, I'll be at the track..

I don't know what you consider to be progressive but I would think it will be even more popular with a wider diversity of drivers AND fans in 10 years. F1 certainly isn't progressive. The big teams cheat and there is no competition to speak of other than for between 3 or 4 teams. Even though some of the recent changes made by NASCAR haven't been supported by the fans, the people in charge are trying to grow the sport, make it safer and level the playing field. Now they are pushing for diversity and expanding into different markets with the addition of Toyota and foreign drivers from other series. It could end up as the most popular form of motorsport in the world if enough F1 fans get fed up with watching 2 hours of follow the leader and rampant cheating that basically goes unpunished.

There is an ebb and flow to every sport. If you've read, all sports across the board are down on ratings, but the naysayers just like to single out NASCAR for some reason. It's not as controversial as everyone is making it, so just like they say "shut up and race".... "shut up and watch". If you are a true fan of the sport having the ratings go down some is not a big deal. Who really cares about TV ratings anyway? The only people who care are the ones who hopes the sport fails for some reason.

Hey toughnottobeacynic…. Huh? That was a lot of talk about something not even closely applicable to the topic. “Two rips, paychecks, press agents, shoving under noses, social redeeming value, eating hot dogs“??? I think that you accidentally answered the wrong question. Man, that made my head hurt reading that. I need a beer.

Hey ingie72.... The question was about the ratings & ticket sales being down. All he said was that the drivers don't care about anything but money and it's just a sport so we shouldn't get worked up over it. I understood what was written, but it is not applicable to the question. The answers on here are really more responses, but at least respond to the question, not just make some general statemement.
By the way, what's the address of a website that YOU manage. I would like to see what a PRO can do.
Also, I went and looked, this person doesn't answer questions, they just go around insulting people. Go check it out. Just like on this question, they didn't address sh*t, just made some insults. fu

Hey Hockey is still alive & thriving in Motown! Go Wings!! There was just a bit of a lull after the strike. Now NASCAR will never die......it may decline here & there but that is normal in any sport. Most every race is sold out year round. I am from Michigan & each year we go to both MI races @ MIS, every year they are sold out. That is 180,000 fans in the stands and an additional 20,000 infield. 200,000 people in one place for a race it's absoutley amazing. NASCAR isn't going anywhere.

I think it has hit a peak. Overexposure is a big issue to me. Just like baseball, they have to be in the news, the awards show, the testing, the driver change, the commercials featuring the drivers. NASCAR is shoving this stuff down our throats and people are just getting tired of it.

I'm not a big NASCAR fan, but I'll watch it if there isn't anything else on. Their races are too long, and it seems like they are getting more and more like the WWE....

Hey guys, NASCAR is entertainment and should be treated and accepted as entertainment. None of these guys out there could give two rips as to who you are until the paychecks stop. It's the same as with any other form of entertainment whether it be "sports", acting, music or hot dog eating. It's merely entertainment. Granted, they, meaning the participants and owners, all have very good press agents and that's why their faces are constantly shoved under our noses and that's why this ball keeps rolling. Just don't expect any social redeeming value out of it. It's entertainment.

If NASCAR stays course in 10 years it could be going in reverse,as in the lack of consistancy in the sport.

I don't see NASCAR ever being worthless like the NHL but it is definitely declining. I blame overexposure.

Hey racefanvote, duh. I visited the website you "manage" and I can see why you wouldn't get the analogies that toughnottobeacynic was making about NASCAR being entertainment. What a jumbled up mess of crap your website is. Is this something that you run out of your high school newspaper?
