I'm in a christmas show and there is a part where I have to be at a strip club and be really rowdy and into it, thing is (I know I should be in character!) I am very shy, and I am having trouble overcomming it. I just keep thinking, oh my god my parents will be watching this. I'm normally quite confident when it comes to performing, I just think this is too far for me. Even other performers have been saying rather you than me. I don't want to approach the director as appart from this scene I love my part. Any advice from people that have been in the same situation? Thanks for any help and Merry Christmas.

Channel Mimi from Rent in the strip club scene, i think her sexy dancing was enought where you should be comfortable with it, and if not cut some parts out. Just wiggled yours hips and shrug your shoulders alot. But i'd talk to the director if you're really uncomfortable with it. he'll probably be willing to work with you.

As a performer myself i know that sometimes i'm uncomfortable with things... but as soon as i get on the stage i forget it all. maybe the same thing will happen for you?

Spend a little time trying to develop this character you are trying to portray, and totally immerse yourself with their character. Work on becoming this other person, and try to think of the world from their perspective. I'm sure this character you are playing has insecurities too. However doing a strip dance is not one of her fears. You must learn your characters strengths and fears and use them to work for you. Cause who knows? This girl you are playing could be totally comfortable dancing provacitivly in front of her parents, yet is afraid of killing a spider, or clowns. Use that to deveop a more confident character that is believable to the audience as well as yourself. Merry Christmas

This is a Christmas show!

Well in real life the first time any girl pole dances she's weired out.

But you have to approach the scene as the character

What if your character was evil, how would you approach that as yo are obviously not evil

Approach it the same way

I know it is hard, b/c your parents are gonna be there, but you are an actress and that is going to be your job of the day to bring this character across... Get inspiration by viewing this Demi Moore clip in Striptease, which by the way, I admire about her. This was probably very difficult for her, having children and all... Good luck Chica!

If you are uncomfortable with the part..it is not for you. If this is what you want to do then like with many things in life...Practice..this will give you confidence and let you take a more detached view

You are not at a strip club your character is! Try acting it may work. I wish you well. Terry. sorry if it sounds a bit harsh, but this is how I see your predicament. I wish you well. Terry.

How old are you and yes you should ask if there is a question. Why not ask your Mother what she thinks.
