Some.
Coffee has caffeine, which makes you more alert and stimulates your alpha brain waves.
BUT, tea also has caffeine, and it stimulates both your alpha and your beta brain waves - making your more alert but also tranquilizing you at the same time.
If you don't like tea, try this - this is how you prepare fine English tea:
Get a tea-bag of Earle Grey, (or some tea-leaves), and put them in an empty cup. Then add sugar and/or milk or lemon - whatever you normally would add.
Then add boiling, not boiled but BOILING water - with the kettle still whistling, to the mix.
Let it sit for at LEAST six minutes.
Then drink - it's wonderful, and not as harsh as coffee.
The crash isn't as bad either.
Take it from an ex-coffee drinker.

Absolutely! I am a wreck without it. I even get headaches if I go too long. According to Web MD "At least six studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's, with three showing the more they drink, the lower the risk. Other research shows that compared to not drinking coffee, at least two cups daily can translate to a 25% reduced risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in liver cirrhosis risk, and nearly half the risk of gallstones."
I would say that that's a positive result!

there is a benefit yes, but too much of a good thing...
I used to drink coffee all the time at work, it used to make me more alert, enjoy my job more and be more effective. But I used to find at the weekends when I stopped taking it, the opposite was true. So now I don't drink it at all, just beer :)
