NO, Knowledge + Arrogance = Atheism
I think you need to have knowledge and then a certain amount of arrogance or pride to then make the leap that this knowledge points in the direction that their is no God.
Because if you had humility you would A) Realize just how much we still DON'T KNOW and that this area of uncertainty is where God exists. B) That knowledge and science can not disprove the existence of God because he is beyond our understanding.
It is only when we become prideful in our accomplishments (like attaining knowledge) that we think the world does not need God to operate.
NOW, knowledge can create DOUBT in the existence of God, but this is a very different thing then atheism. Doubt can be a good thing because at it leads to questioning. Honest questioning is not a bad thing -- some of the greatest Theologians started off as agnostics or even atheists but thru knowledge and questioning arrived at a belief in God. So questioning and doubt are good when they are not partnered with Pride/Arrogance

Only when processed through a rational mind. Religion is also "knowledge" that was written down and passed along through the centuries. It just so happens that knowledge outside of each religion renders each religion as myth and folklore. Now, if you were to say DEPTH of knowledge, meaning that a person went to several sources to gain knowledge, including those of opposing views, then yes. Knowledge does create atheism.

The arguments for (and against) both atheism and theism have been around as long as man has been reasoning. Both can be found in "written" form as far back as writting appears to go. So there really are no new arguements on the subject. The ancients Greeks in the 8th century BC were using evolution as an arguement against God way back then. (Darwin did not invent the idea, he merely came up with a mechanism for it that popularized the theory.) Knowledge of the ancient atheist arguement could sway some people.
But at the same time there are as many excellent arguements for God that date back just as far. Knowledge of those theist arguements could just as easily sway people to that belief.

No. Knowledge that is written and passed down through centuries usually creates an open minded well rounded person.
Atheists do not have any particular hold on this, actually if we were to take just Yahoo answers Atheists into account they have no more of a hold on this then anyone else.

I think there is a connection. Some people need a healthy diet of experience to keep the faith. Knowledge without experience is easy to doubt. This is exactly why the doctrinal religions are not available choices to me. I believe what I see. And so my path to spirit is through shamanic journey, to experience the spiritual domain in similar way that the originators of the doctrinal religions did. And although I am not one to believe religions, I am ok with those who do when it leads them to do great things. And I think there is wisdom to be gained from just about any religion.

With most scientists, it seems to be the other way around lately. Back last century, especially from the 1920s till the 90's, yes. But, with advances in the study of DNA, many now believe that there was a Creative Process and Intelligent Design behind creation.
DNA is basically a very complex computer script. Show me someone who tells you that DNA is an accident, and I will show you a person who should be wearing a hat with bells dancing on a kings table.
Athiests want you to believe that anyone who believes in God is a religious zealot. Seems to me that the true zealots are the athiests who want no one to believe in anything. Most atheists lately seem to want to ridicule anyone who has a religious belief at all. Sad.

I believe it´s possible to be atheist and poorly educated.
But atheism is a level of liberty of mind that is easier to reach for educated people.
