Love - them in all (this dose not mean you agree or condone wrong)
Truth - never lie to them even is it is easier at the time, in the long run the truth is better
Respect - to give them room to be themselves and that they give you the same
One way this is done is by spending time together not just in the same room but interacting with each other as a family, like playing card or other games, just spending time talking about nothing particular (even joking around), going out together (from just the store to vacations) the list goes on as it is still to each families likes.

Well for one its important to actually have family values and define them amongst yourselves.

In my opinion, there are two that tie for the top spot...love and communication.

I value that I don't live with my family anymore.

And I value getting drunk with them at Christmas time.

I learned that from my mom. No matter how screwed up my life was, no matter how many dumb and self destructive choices I made, or how stupid I got, I could always go home. And my mom was always waiting for me. *G*
