No, I really don't believe in any gods. I haven't since I was a child.

I'm not really sure what kind of answers you're expecting, here. I don't expect anyone to say that they're hiding behind disbelief. Seriously, even if someone was, why would they admit it? Isn't that kind of the point of hiding?

Do you really believe there is a god, or do you hide behind that idea to justify how you live?

Seriously, do you really think that your bible or god provides you with a moral compass? What does your god say about the abolition of slavery? Nothing! In fact, slavery is condoned in both the old and new testament. Yet the general consensus among Christians and non-Christians these days is that slavery is abhorrent - From where did this new moral agreement spring? Not from the bible or god, that's for sure!

If you think that atheists are running around being assholes simply because they do not believe in god, then you need to step out of your little bubble and take a look around. Or, alternatively, just Google ''Ted Haggard"

EDIT: Perhaps you could ask these people how they justify their lives:

Warren Buffet
Bill Gates
Kurt Vonnegut
Terry Pratchett
Arthur C. Clarke
Primo Levi
David Suzuki
Woody Allen
Ian McKellan
Bjork
Albert Camus
Denis Diderot
Bertrand Russell
James Watson

By the way, do you really believe that there is no Shiva?!? OMG! Do you use your lack of belief in Shiva to justify how you live your life?!? I bet you kill babies because you don't believe in Shiva!

Why do you call it "hiding." Your type has such a closed mind to the subject, you just make up what we're doing then believe it.

Funny, you have a history of that.

Look, in order to believe in God, you must to the brain process of "believing" and .. well, let's put it this way - when you clear your mind, 100%, of everything, "beliefs" are gone, too. You're left with simply "what is" or "the ever infinite 'now.'" God cannot be present since it requires "belief."

You need an understanding of first
Psychology then a good understanding of Buddhist philosophy.

Justify how I live? I am a decent enough person. I take care of my family. I help out my neighbors. I go to work almost everyday. God didn't do any of that for me and I need no justification for the way I live. Aren't you a little presumptuous though.

I think you are right. There are 3 kinds of atheists.

1. People that are very arrogant and sinful so they say they don't believe in God but deep down inside they don't like to think about..what if God exists? As it scares them.

2. Then you have the foolish atheist who really believes there is no God.

3. Then you have the atheist who is not sure...he is on the fence and is more humble and open to logic, common sense and science. All point to Gods existence.

#1 and #2 are fools but #3 has a chance

The bible says and I quote "A FOOL says in their heart there is no God" So we all know what atheists are he hee

I don't believe there is a God. Many people who do believe in God seem to have trouble understanding that and assume that atheists are purposely avoiding or ignoring God.
BTW, belief in God, by it self, doesn't dictate how people live. It's the doctrine and dogma associated with a particular religion that determines how people of faith live.

I may not be an atheist but

I have asked your God for understanding and received nothing.
I have asked your God for patience and received none.

For some entity that is supposed to be all powerful and gentle and good He certainly does not give anything to his believers. Yes for a time I did believe in God and then when I needed him most he was not there so I turned to the Gods and Goddesses of old and they answered me. Hera gave me patience that I was in need of and gave me understanding of why things were the way they are.

For you God may exist but for me he never has and never will exist. I suppose he may exist only for those he wishes to exist for.

That would imply that you think that atheists are immoral. I would say that I am more moral and charitable than 90% of Christians. If I really believed that there would be some sort of eternal consequence to not believing in God, I would certainly change my ways. I don't even have the slightest inclination to believe such an absurd idea.

Serious answers only?

Think about your question using good old common sense....

If I really believed he existed and just pretended he didn't - for whatever reason - wouldn't god know that? So what would be the point in doing that?

My morality and ethics are far more clean and pure than most godists I know. How do you know how I live?

And yeah... I believe that no god at all exists. Not the one you like, and not any of the other thousands that are and have been believed in throughout history. Nobody has ever seen, touched, communicated with (sitting in a room talking to yourself is not communicating), smelled, or anything else any of them.
