On a spiritual level, it has been refered to as the power behind it all, the Divine Driving Will.

Its purpose is to move your mind to a object...
To move minds focus on the correct part or thing in your body to make it react so it does what you want it to do.
Example of subtle intention... You want to look a bit lower, subtly your mind makes your eyes moves down without your gross minds input... but you still created the intention of...
Example of gross intention: typing on a keyboard.. for me, i have to think about each key i need to hit, so my intention is ... wanting to put "a"... finding the"a" moving finger and pushing the "a" key
