First - I'd check to make sure I was mentally sound and didn't accidentally ingest anything. Then I'd consider the advice. First - can I avoid apples? Are apples intrinsic to my very nature and existence? (i.e. are they necessary for survival or hardwired into my genetic code) If no - then I would easily let go of apples. But then I'm not much of a fruit person. But, see the Christian God has never come down to me and told me that the bible is the truth. So why should I, or anyone else, believe it? For all we know it was written by a bunch of cranky old guys. What you're asking is illogical. You're comparing personal experience (of actually seeing and conversing/interacting with a divine being) to just taking someone's word for it that a book is true. HUGE difference.

If I understand your question correctly, then this is my answer:
Many people do not consider the natural CONSEQUENCES of their actions BEFORE the do them. And when they DO something "wrong," it's a tad too LATE to say, "OOPS! I didn't MEAN to do THAT!"
If you recall the "first sin" story, satan (the serpent) actually convinced Eve that the "consequences" of her defiance of God's will (eating the fruit) was not real... "You won't DIE" he said. In essence, he was calling God a liar. So, the consequences of Eve's sin was dismissed by satan, so she DID it. Then, when she sinned, she convinced Adam, too, that there were not consequences, "See? I haven't DIED."
It was only when God confronted them that the finally realized the REAL consequences of their disobedience... "death"... or separation from God's presence in Eden. And it was at this time when they started blaming others... "SHE made me do it!" "The SERPENT made me do it!"
ALL this was the result of their "free will," their ability to CHOOSE what they would do or NOT do. They weren't insane, and they also knew God existed, and yet, they defied His wishes.
Throughout the Bible, and history, there are so many examples of times when God "proved" His existance plainly enough, and yet, people DEFIED His will. How could the people of Israel deny God's existance when they were freed from Egypt? The plagues on Egypt? The parting of the Red Sea? The pillar of FIRE and SMOKE? Manna in the wilderness? These weren't enough to convince these people that God was real. And STILL, when Moses went up into the mountains to receive the 10 Commandments, they STILL revolted against God's will and sinned, and created and worshipped the Golden Calf idol. They weren't insane, yet they CHOSE to ignore whatever consequences of their actions would be. And these were God's "Chosen People"!!!
What may seem insane to you does not to someone else.
I hope I have understood and answered your question.
Have a blessed day.

Any alien being who would initiate force against a reasoning creature isn't a supreme being, therefore not worthy of my trust, respect or consideration. The God of the Bible, and Jesus ought to be locked up in jail for their threats against mankind and individuals.

The serpent said to Eve, "Surely you will not die". He meant to create doubt as to what God had said, to imply God was lieing and withholding something desireable from her. She took the bait and death was introduced into the world.
