Who builds temples nowdays?

Interesting question -- I have heard that jewish priests have already designed a temple to be built upon the temple mount [currently, the Dome of the Rock is there].
The main people known today for building of temples are the Mormons - with approximately 125 temples around the world. Mormons believe that each temple is dedicated as a 'house of the Lord'. Mormons also believe that the Lord Jehovah came to the Kirtland temple in April 1836.

As Paul states, you are the temple of the Lord. It is up to you to build the temple and make it a pure vessel fit for the Lord. Jesus came to stop the animal sacrifices. Are you still sacrificing animals within your temple?
Where did you get the concept that the Lord will suddenly come into the temple though? The Truth is attained precept by precept, here a little there a little until it is complete. As you are faithful to the gifts you have been given and sincerely seek more so you will receive. This is the meaning of Jacob's ladder. At each stage you are only able to climb as you grab one rung and let go of the last.
So start building your vessel if you truly desire to answer this question. You can call it an Ark, Temple, Virgin or simply your own consecrated flesh. As it is purified the Law will come to be found within it and when that Law is fulfilled you will be able to enter the Holy of Holies.

This prophecy has already been fulfilled. He came into the Kirtland Temple in 1836 after it was dedicated by Joseph Smith. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has built over 125 temples world wide to perform the necessary ordinances for God's children to return to His Kingdom and presence.
However, there are more temples yet to be built, including one in Jerusalem and one in Zion or the New Jerusalem.

There were 2 temples here on earth, built by man. One in heaven, built by God, and there is the temples that are our body's. I believe it is this latter temple that you are referring to.
