I was coming out of my work on monday night. There was a car infront of me. Both of us stopped on the intersection. And on the intersection my car touched here rear bumper. It was not a big collision (it was not even a collision.)

So I came out of the car and asked her if she was okay. She was fine, so was I. I checked my car , nothing was wrong and there was nothing wrong with her car as well. But she told me there was a scratch on her bumper, but there was none. So I gave her my first name and my number and we left.

The next day his boyfriend called me and asked me about my Insurance registration number. He was telling me that there was a scratch on her bumber and it needs to be fixed. I told him there was none. Then he told me that he has not filed a police complaint and he told me that it might be necessary. So I told him to not to do anything and told him that I will take care of the "scratch on the bumper"

I think these people are trying to rip me off. Any help

Maybe they are, but the bottom line is, you rearended her. You're going to end up buying this bumper.

I'd strongly suggest you report this to your insurance company, and let them handle it. If they're really "taking" you, they're going to hope you offer them money (read, assume full liability) then they'll probably slam you with whiplash, pain & suffering next month, and it will be too late for you to get help from your insurance company.

And don't talk to them. Tell them, "I reported it to my insurer, they are going to handle it." End of story.

If you feel you are being ripped off then contact your insurance company and make a claim. They will estimate the other persons vehicle and determine if any damage was caused in this accident. And yes, it IS considered a collision, your vehicle came in contact with theirs.

If your insurance covers it will be covered under your liability portion of the policy.

PIP is Personal Injury Protection - which would not come into play here.

YUP, there is a set-up going on, now put the monkey back on him, Tell him you can't discuss this with him, only her!!! Get hold of her,( away from him), and talk, if need be offer to have the bumper buffed to shine again, and when she says she'll talk to him, just tell her" this is a 1 shot deal take or leave it"!! Let her know that you think your being scammed!! take a picture of it too (ASAP)!!

As others have said- contact your insurance company and tell these people to contact your insurance company directly and have no more contact with them. DO NOT PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS! You could pay it, they could pocket the money and then turn in a claim to your insurance company and get more money. Good luck!

It's no help now, but always use your cell phone camera, if you have one, to take pictures of damage from accidents.
