Hey, even the Catholic church has recognized a true case of reincarnation. I would say a lot of internal investigation and interpretation. Like if there is something constantly nagging at you or a constantly feeling like you have been some where before, it could be part of it. I don't know for sure how to go about it, but a little research will probably put you on any of several paths.

If you are indeed and old soul and have experience life as another individual, there is a reason that you do not and are not suppose to remember it.
If you do retain bits and pieces of memories they are usually very unpleasant, unresolved experiences that have been somehow carried into this incarnation because they are more than likely awful.
Delving into past lives is not for the faint of heart. You may uncover some really terrible experiences that you will need help with. Find and experienced theapist. Seriously no one ever remembers good stuff from past lives. It is not necessary to carry positive memories from one life to the next. You may retain positive attitudes and feelings but you will not be able to remember why you have them. It would remove your free will from this life.
If you have some major unresolved issue, or phobia that you do not understand and think it could be from a past life, you will need help dealing with it. Still remembering anything from a past life is extremely rare.
Most likely however, you are dealing with something from this life that you just don't remember.

Read "Have You Lived Before This Life" by L.Ron Hubbard
Then read "Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health" by same author.
Then find a Dianetic practicioner and get some Dianetics.
(Stay away from any kind of hypno therapy you want to be fully alert and aware when you contact a past life experience)

I think they use hypnosis. If you find a medium/psychic/intuitive you trust,
they might have an opinion. The buddhists
seem to be adept at finding out who was the
Buddha or Dali Lama in a past life.
*Most* past lives are mundane.

Learn meditation. After much practice, you can become very adept and the skill will be very instrumental in living your day to day life.

Your soul existed in heaven. All souls have to pass through this earth age. As far as reincarnation, it doesn't exist. Just because a so called psychic says you were this or that, doesn't mean you were. They are out to make money, and pray on anyone they can sucker in.

You do not have any past lives. Why because in Revelations it states:
It is appointed unto man OnCe to die, and after that.....the judgement.
