Did you know that a German study showed that cats chasing dogs is more likely to happen than the way around? Here's the reason :

Dogs will chase cats mostly for the same reason they will chase a toy or another animals....for fun or, more often, because they are scared of the things and will do it mostly if he sense that he cannot be harm

Cats will chase dogs to protects his or her status or territory and will do so against a far more formidable opponents because it's their prime instinct to protect what is theirs.

Form that German study, Cats chases dog 34% more often than the other way around. You have to ask yourself why is it in the popular custom to think that Dogs chases cats and not the contrary?

Yeah...when I was a kid, we had a German Shepherd and a cat. The dog would chase the cat from the kitchen all the way thru the apartment to my parents room...then they'd turn around and the cat would chase the dog back to the kitchen. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, that cat scared all the dogs in the neighborhood. LOL

Yes my Digger is a long haired blk 16 # (not fat, just big) chases my 16# Jack Russel around, they love to play together. Digger also won't back down from a dog, even strange ones, don't know if he's brave or stupid? LOL Love him and he stays in. But he at times also plays with our 80 # Shepherd mix. I think he thinks he's a dog. He plays with the other cats but not as much.

Yeah, there used to be a bulldog that lived across the street from my old house and we had three outdoor cats at the time. Occasionally, the dog would get through its electronic fence and head straight for our house. Most of the time our cats would scatter out of sheer panic. One time, one of our cats had to jump from our deck which was at least 20 feet, probably more b/c the dog had cornered him. But the funniest time was when our oldest cat fought back out of desperation b/c he had no other options and the dog took off!!

Yes, my cat takes great delight in chasing my little dogs. She hides and ambushes them all the time. The poor things are always on the look out for her but she hides in different places all the time. It is very funny.

Yes, it was a poodle though. Then the cat would get on its hind leg and almost kind of box the dog with its mitts...it was sooo funny!!
