I have a met a lot of pagans and atheist who were not only Christian but went to semenary school. This highly amuses me since many Christians first question is "Have you ever read the Bible?" So I was wondering how many we have here on the boards?

I did.

Unfortunately most Christians don't have the luxury of time to really explore the history of their religion or the history of the bible.

Doing that causes more Atheists and universalism.

I can't blame them, its just a matter of practical time, although if I thought that there was a possibility of being tortured forever, I would want to make darn sure I knew everything about my belief and didn't just accept it blindly.

I will never forget having a first year discussion with a highly respected Theologian in my denomination and learning that he didn't believe in the literal interpretation of the bible, and didn't even believe that Jesus existed. I argued with him, and he told me that once I had done a little more study, I would change my mind. I told him that it was very unlikely. But he was right.

This was a man who wrote countless spiritual books relied on by church members all over the world to support their faith and belief. I asked him how he could write his books about the importance of faith without even believing in Jesus. He said that religious belief was important for society.

No, but I interned with a youth minister in high school. I learned alot about how the church is run and what ministers do from Monday - Saturday. A good minister actually stays quite busy. Most people have no idea what goes on in their church when services are over. There is a lot of money flowing in and out. There are many old and sick folks to go pray with. There is drama galore and usually a small staff of people trying to keep the whole shebang running. I learned some excellent lessons there.
I also worked for the Southern Baptist Conference Center in Glorieta NM. That was also fun and educational. It was right at the end of my Christian phase. It made for a good final chapter in that book.

I didn't formally, but I have a Jesuit that is a dear friend who I ask FIRST when I have a question about the Bible. So, if you notice that I'm pro-Scholarship and prefer the gospels in Greek and the rest in Latin, you know why.

If the Jesuits took women, I'd probably have been one. My search for scholarship and understanding predated meeting my gods. I never for a moment believed the Christian God existed, but that needn't be a barrier to sincere service, or at least I told myself that.

My partner taught Sunday School.

Quoted: "I have a met a lot of pagans and atheist who were not only Christian but went to semenary school."

Huh? How is that possible? Maybe you meant FORMER...

No, I have never been to a seminary school (Since you know all about it, it's amusing that you spelled it incorrectly.) After fifteen years of grief, I came to find that I wouldn't give that religion any more of my time. I made the correct choice for me.
