What do you think about a 20 dollar gift certificate for an elementary teacher in a card for Christmas? I figure it's gotta be better than the typical hand soaps, candles and that sort of thing. Or is a gift card tacky? To walmart or target?

One of the best gifts you can give. That way they can use it for their self or for the classroom. Most teachers pay out of pocket to provide for the classroom. Do it they will love it.One who knows.

I think that's a good idea, but teachers also appreciate things that are made by the child. Rather than a gift card to target or wal-mart, which they would probably spend on someone else, how about a gift certificate for a manicure-pedicure which they can use to indulge themselves. Or, bath and body , victoria secrets. Just something they can use for themselves. But, if the child can make something, that's extra special. If you give a gift card, try to have child at least hand make the Christmas card to include with the gift.

When I was a teacher,I received a similar gift card but to a a different store: Nordstrom's (children knew I shopped there(. Target would be a better choice than Walmart. But a bookstore certificate would also be nice.

I did hear that teaches end up spending a lot on school supplies for their classrooms out of their own pockets. Maybe a gift card to an office supply store or a book store. I lived with a roommate in college who was a math teacher. She LOVED to stock up on pencils and erasers, notebooks...

gift cards are like the 3rd most popular gift or something, if you need to get something get that, but i would rather get a gift card then something i dont want
