Salvation is a free gift from God. It cannot be earned. See W96.
But to be declared righteous, we need WORKS OF FAITH, Faith in Jesus and his Father (John 14:1) , and FAITH. (James 2:24)
24 YOU see that a man is to be declared righteous by works, and not by faith alone. 25
17 Thus, too, faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself. – James 2
We have to take care of the GIFT of life and salvation that God gives. But if we don’t take care of that, and we don’t have a fine fight of our Christian faith then we can loose it.
We also need to repent and turn around from our un-Christian works.
Rev 7:10 – . 10 And they keep on crying with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation [we owe] to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
We owe our salvation to God, Jehovah, the Father, (who is seated on the throne & who is IN heaven) and to his Son, Jesus, the Lamb and Son of God(who was standing & whose name UNDER heaven that has been given among men for us to get saved– Rev 5:6, Acts 4:12) .
Jehovah saves. He is the only main source of salvation.
Isa 43:11 states “I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.”
Jehovah then gave his Son a NAME by which we get saved(Acts 4:12) so Jesus also saves.
Acts 4:12 states
12 Furthermore, there is no salvation in anyone else, for there is not another NAME UNDER HEAVEN that has been GIVEN among men by which we must get SAVED.
So the only NAME that was GIVEN UNDER HEAVEN in which men can get saved is the God sent Son,AND HIS name is, JESUS. (John 3;16). No other creation has a name or authority that can save us, only Jesus.
Jehovah God is the one saving IN THE HEAVENS.
Psalm 20:6
6 Now I do know that Jehovah certainly saves his anointed one.
He answers him from his holy heavens
With the saving mighty acts of his right hand.
Jehovah God is the one who sent saviors to earth before to save people.
Neh 9:27 –
27 For this you gave them into the hand of their adversaries, who kept causing them distress; but in the time of their distress they would cry out to you, and you yourself would hear from the very heavens; and in accord with your abundant mercy you would give them saviors who would save them out of the hand of their adversaries.
Finally, Jehovah, The Father, sent his only begotten Son to save humanity.
16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life – John 3:16
That’s why
Jesus said in John 14:1 – “Exercise faith in God, exercise faith ALSO in me”
John 17:3 - 3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ
Rev 7:10 – . 10 And they keep on crying with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation [we owe] to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
10 Salvation is a gift from God, but it does not come automatically. (Romans 6:23) There are certain basic conditions that each individual must meet to qualify for that gift. Jesus said: “God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.” And the apostle John added: “He that exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; he that disobeys the Son will not see life.” (John 3:16, 36) Clearly, God requires faith and obedience from each individual who hopes to obtain everlasting salvation. Each one must make the decision to accept the ransom and to follow in Jesus’ footsteps.
Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will get saved.” (Acts 16:31)
This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.’”—John 17:3.
We also have to do works that befit repentance.”—Matthew 3:8; Acts 3:19.
Faith without works is dead.”—James 1:22; 2:19, 26.
You can loose salvation if you don’t take care of that gift.
“I desire to remind you . . . that Jehovah, although he SAVED a people [the Israelites] out of the land of Egypt, afterwards DESTROYED those not showing faith.”—Jude 5.
Every branch in me not bearing fruit [God] takes away . . . If anyone does not remain in union with me, he is cast out as a branch and is dried up; and men gather those branches up and pitch them into the fire and they are burned.” (John 15:2, 6; Hebrews 6:4-6) Those losing faith in Jesus also lose everlasting life.
We must exercise faith in the Chief Agent of salvation, Jesus Christ, and do God’s will the rest of our lives. (John 3:16; Titus 2:14)
“he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.”—Matthew 24:13.

How do we “render sacred service to the living God”? Among other things, the Bible tells us to combat the works of the flesh, to resist the world’s immorality, and to avoid its snares. It says: “Fight the fine fight of the faith,” put off “the sin that easily entangles us,” and “run with endurance the race that is set before us, as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus.” And the Bible urges us not to ‘get tired and give out in our souls.’—1 Timothy 6:12; Hebrews 12:1-3; Galatians 5:19-21.
We do not earn salvation by doing these things, for no human could ever do enough to merit such an astounding blessing. We are not worthy of this magnificent gift, though, if we fail to demonstrate our love and obedience by doing the things that the Bible says God and Christ want us to do. Without works to demonstrate our faith, our claim to follow Jesus would fall far short, for the Bible clearly states: “Faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.”—James 2:17.

Have You Been SAVED?
JOHNNY was ten years old when a man stopped him at a fair and asked: "Young man, do you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?" That sounded like a rather strange question to Johnny, since he had always believed in Jesus. So he answered, "Of course I do." "Praise the Lord!" the man shouted for all to hear. "Another soul saved for Christ!"
Is salvation really that simple? Was Johnny "saved" from the moment he said those words, regardless of what he would do for the rest of his life? Many sincere people would answer yes. Some religious tracts say to write down the date you were "saved" so that you can remember it.
A clergyman wrote that at "the moment of simple faith in Christ . . . one's destiny is permanently settled." He claimed that the Bible says that salvation depends on a single, one-time "act of faith, not on the continuity of faith." Another religion writer wrote: "This is a finished work. It has already been accomplished for you . . . Your 'warfare has ended.' Your 'iniquity has been removed.'" But even people who are firmly convinced that this is true may see a problem here. It is obvious that many people who have been told that they are "saved" do not live the way the Bible says they should. A common explanation is that perhaps they had not really "accepted" Christ.
So, what does "accepting" Jesus really mean? Is it a one-time act of faith, or is it a continuing way of life? Must our belief be strong enough to motivate us to action? Can we really accept the benefits of Jesus' sacrifice without the responsibility of following him?

The Bible says that it is God’s will that “all sorts of men should be saved.” (1 Timothy 2:3, 4) Salvation is available to all who will accept it.
Jesus tells us “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.”—John 17:3.
Heartfelt acceptance of the shed blood of Jesus is essential if we are going to be saved (2 Timothy 3:16)
Salvation involves more than simply acquiring information, in a responsive heart, accurate knowledge of God produces faith, (Romans 10:10, 17; Hebrews 11:6)which moves one to action.
We need to put faith in God’s ability to accomplish his will. Salvation also involves conforming oneself to God’s standards of conduct and morality and love and appreciation for God moves one to make a full dedication to God and to symbolize it by water baptism.
Eph. 2:8, 9, RS: “By grace [“undeserved kindness,” ] you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God—not because of works, lest any man should boast.” We need to remember that the entire provision for salvation is an expression of God’s undeserved kindness. There is no way that a descendant of Adam can gain salvation on his own, no matter how noble his works are. Salvation is a gift from God given to those who put faith in the sin-atoning value of the sacrifice of his Son.

Fearing the true God Jehovah and obeying his commandments - Ecclesiastes 12:13 Psalms 83:18. Also, this would include taking in accurate knowledge of God and His son Jesus, and excercising faith in Jesus Christ's ransom sacrifice. - John 17:3 John 3:16

Obedience to Jesus commands Hebrews 5:8, 9
Or dying in ignorance. Many people who die (billions) and are not JWs come back in the resurrection to learn about Jesus Christ, God's firstborn only begotten son. Acts 24:15, Rev. 20:5.
Dying before God's war is not an end to ones hope.

While Jehovah's Witnesses understand faith to be the primary thing for a Christian, they also understand that professed "faith" is not a license for a sinner to continue to indulge his sin.
(Matthew 7:20-23) Really, then, by their fruits you will recognize... “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness.
One's faith must have SOME effect on the individual's personality and lifecourse. The Scriptures quite plainly explain that humans can disqualify themselves from receiving everlasting life; it is only the faithful COMPLETION of a life course that assures salvation. [Emphasis added to citations below.]
(Zephaniah 2:3) Seek Jehovah, all you meek ones of the earth, who have practiced His own judicial decision. Seek righteousness, seek meekness. PROBABLY you may be concealed in the day of Jehovah's anger.
(Amos 5:15) Hate what is bad, and love what is good, and give justice a place in the gate. It MAY be that Jehovah the God of armies will show favor
(Matthew 7:13-14) Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.
(Matthew 24:13) But he that has endured TO THE END is the one that will be saved.
(Philippians 2:12) Keep WORKING OUT your own salvation with fear and trembling
(Hebrews 10:26-27) For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left, 27 but there is a certain fearful expectation of judgment
(Hebrews 5:9) [Jesus] became responsible for everlasting salvation to all those OBEYING him
(James 2:14,17) Of what benefit is it, my brothers, if a certain one says he has faith but he does not have works? That faith cannot save him, can it? ...17 Thus, too, faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.

Their salvation is after Jesus comes back, he will kill all non-witnesses and return the earth to the paradise adam and eve lived in - so you pretty much just have to be a witness because they think everyone else is bad and horrible. nice, huh?

Exactly as ladybird says, obeying to Jehovah. Sincerely seeking to please him as much as possible by following his commandments in every aspect of our life. Jesus is our model for us to follow. Living according to what he taught us is the best way to please Jehovah and therefore get his approbation.
