hatred hurts the hater more than the target. if you let people's words or actions bother you, you're the one with the problem. what they say or do only reflects on them. even if they're calling you names and cursing you coming and going, that's on them.

I think so. We are only human - and bad feelings are part of our make-up. I think, like another person who answered before me though, that it's very rare when real, true, HATE is actually justified - but I do think those exist.
Maybe understandable is a better word than justified. There are instances where I can understand why someone would be hated.

Hatred of anything and anyone is neither justified nor really healthy for you nor the "subject of your hatred". Think about it: hatred raises your blood pressure and any storyline that caused it to arise in the first place gets blown WAY out of proportion until you can't either think straight or relax.
Altruism, the logical choice.

Yes. But its not permanent.
If someone has done something to hurt you, you have the right to hate them. Eventually you get over the pain and the hatred goes away.

I could never hate anyone at least for very long. I tried to a couple times but one I forgave and the other one I just learned that I can love someone even though I don't like their lifestyle.

It takes a lot of time and energy to hate someone. My time is better spent doing productive things. I do however, EXTREMELY dislike some people.
I would say a parent whose child was brutally tortured and killed would be justified in hating the person who did it.

I'll concur that harboring hatred towards another is unhealthy and expends a tremendous amount of precious emotional energy, but I can think of 2 people in my life for whom this extreme level of animosity and abhorrence is 100% warranted.

No. There are hateful people in this world who are outwardly deserving of our hatred.
However, to merely hate them is pointless. To oppose them with righteous indignation and constructive criticism is our right and duty!
