Try neosporin and/or tea tree oil. Both should help alleviate your symptoms.

There's a product you can get called Mederma that is supposed to help scars heal and reduce their appearance. As I remember its active ingredient is found in onion peels, if you prefer more natural remedies. It is a little expensive though.

12 months is quite awhile. But I used Neosporin 6 months after my incident, and now you can barely see the scars on my forehead.

cocoa butter.. rubbed in really well three times a day, or more if your skin is prone to dryness.
