Cats make WONDERFUL pets! They are far less work than dogs, and require less attention than dogs do. You can leave a cat alone for a reasonable amount of time without worrying that it will soil your carpet/furniture like a dog would.

Cats are such fascinating creatures, too. If you get two, it's so entertaining just to watch them play with each other. They wrestle and fight (all playful) in such a way that it's hypnotizing and you have to watch. They're also just as fascinating playing with a toy on their own.

They require very little care. The only drawback is the litter box, but there are so many options for automatic litter boxes now that it's not that big of an issue. Even if you go with a regular litter box, they sell sifting liners where you put a number of them on the bottom of the box and then lift one liner each time you change the litter and the good litter will fall through to the next level, while you can throw out the used litter. You need to buy clumping litter in order for that system to work.

Cats are also very affectionate. My cats sleep on our bed with us and like to sit on the sofa with us when we're watching a movie. They enjoy a good head rub from time to time.

If you don't have enough time for a dog, but still want a pet that will enjoy your company and requires little attention, a cat is your answer.

Oh, yes. I like all pets, but I'll take a cat over a dog any day. Dogs mess up the backyard with their droppings and bark at absolutely nothing for hours on end. My cat is self-sustaining. All I have to do is put food and water down and she takes care of herself. I have a cat door she can go in and out, so I don't have to clean a litter box.

I love them. I have 2.

Cats are the most amazing creatures. They can jump more than 10 times their height, see in the dark, hear mice scratching in the walls, and have a keen sense of smell.

They clean themselves, they keep rodents away, they kill flies and other flying insects. They are quiet (for the most part) and they are big love bugs. They also provide some wonderful entertainment with their playful antics. They are good watch pets and fantastic heating pads in bed. When my cat purrs, it is music to my ears.

Leonardo DiVinci said they are works of art. I agree. Everyone should have one.
