Israelis are very relaxed about that kind of thing, so you can just wish her 'happy holidays' and she'll be fine UNLESS she's a religious Jew in which case she will just look at you blankly when you mention 'xmas'! lol lol lol

By the way - she can be Israeli and be Jewish or Christian or Muslim. So 'happy holidays' is the safest option :)

And please don't apologise for not knowing what to say; I think it's very sweet that you are asking :)

"Happy holidays" covers six weeks and at least five (or six if you count Solstice, or seven if you observe Festivus) different holidays, so it's a perfectly okay thing to say. "Merry Christmas" will usually be fine as well, though it may be a little dicey if you know for a fact that she's particular.

I think finding out what she's doing on New Years would not be a bad idea though :-)

I've never met a Jew who was offended by a wish for happy Christmas. like most people they accept a wish and goodwill graciously

Happy Hanukkah, but Hanukkah's already been and gone. I don't think Merry Christmas would offend her.

It might, though, if you can't spell Israel.

Actually Peaceful Holidays...they don't celebrate Christmas for obvious reasons...

It depends if she is religious or not. If you are a Christian say , Merry Christmas, and if she doesn't like it , tell her you say it because you are Christian.
