Why has Christianity grown so rapidly in South Korea but not in most of Asia?

Because unlike most of the rest of Asia, South Korea is not and never has been Muslim or Communist.

Koreans try to emulate who ever they think is successful.

They think whatever the West has is better, so they abandoned Buddhism for Christianity.

I think Koreans are in the mist of an identity crisis.

Japan has it's own religion (Shinto), in addition to Buddhism.
Japan only modeled itself after the West in terms to economic development. It's culture and religion remained intact, whereas Koreans blindly follow the West.

Chinese are also Buddhist, even under communist rule they still practice Buddhism. China, like Japan, only accepted certain things from the West and does not automatically think whatever is from the West is Best.

hi, properly for the final 60 years issues have been going properly in western Europe and its extra effective for many to take exhilaration in the pleasures of existence and going after the Euro than getting non secular and attending church. humorous, yet sixty seven years or 2 generations decrease back, the church homes, on an identical time as Europe substitute into decrease than Nazi occupation, have been extremely finished. You never knew each and daily in case you would be arrested or randomly pulled off a bus and shot for reprisal for the dying of a German soldier between different horrors. The church homes have been finished in those days. as a results of fact the 60's the numbers have rapidly declined. LOL, many church homes are empty however the mosques are continuously finished over there. I could factor out that for the time of eastern, former communist Europe there is plenty extra desirable church attendance. it seems although with appreciate to our ideals, many human beings are honest climate human beings in our dating to God yet rapidly substitute while our international is going bitter on us. Because some Asian countries have Communist regimes that suppress freedom of religion.

Others are simply not predominantly Christian (i.e. India, Middle East nations).

However, the Phillippines (pardon the spelling) is the only nation in Asia that is predominantly Catholic.

It's growing very rapidly in China, India and Sri Lanka despite the crackdowns. The Korean churches are very well organized and they have lots of events for young people.
