Im going to Jamaica in a few days. I was wondering what the restrictions were as far as bringing shampoo, perfeume, hair product and that sort of thing. I was told that you can bring whatever you want in the suitcase that goes under the scanner and in the cargo hold; that there were only restrictions on what you could carry-on. is that true?

That's true, within reason. Obviously, if you try to fly with some sort of flammable liquid or poison, you'll have a problem even if you check the bags that they're in.

But the things you mentioned, all personal toiletries, can easily fly in checked (not carry-on!) luggage. Just remember that if you pack more than 60-70 pounds of them, you'll get charged extra! (Not that anyone packs that much shampoo!)

I think that's correct. Jamaica shouldn't be a super long flight so I'd just keep all the stuff in your luggage and not carry on anything to avoid hold ups at security. Worst case scenario if you bring it in your luggage and you can't have it they will just throw it out and you'll have to buy some in Jamaica, which isn't a huge deal.

Have fun on your trip! Jamaica is supposed to be a blast! (someday, oh yes, someday!)
