My mom and I saw a mouse run across the floor a few days ago, so I set out some live traps, and she put posion in the basement.

I caught 3 mice, 2 were healthy and I released them into the woods further away from our house, 1 was either in shock, or ate some posion and It died almost minutes after I let him out of the trap.

I noticed one of the traps had urine on it, and being stupid I forgot to put on gloves before picking the trap up.

I washed my hands, then wiped them with a sanitizing lotion, then mopped the area where the traps were set with bleach, then washed my hands again.

3 days later, my brother had what was either the stomach flu or food poisoning (he threw up once), and today I feel kind of gross.

my mom is fine.

Do I need to worry about going to the doctor because of diseases mice carry, or would you be more inclined to think we have the flu. (its been about 2 days since the first mouse, 1 since the second, and the third was this morning.)

I used to live in an apartment building that was right next to the woods, so every fall, the "mouse invasion" would occur! We never caught less than13 in a season; my record was 30! I was cleaning out bloody, peed on and pooped on mouse traps almost daily and never got any wierd mouse diseases. I never disinfected anything, but I did wash off afterwards. Since you were pretty thourogh about decontamination, I'm guessing you caught some kind of stomach flu etc.

The mice are probably coming from next door! I would be very concerned if the house next door was neglected by the owner, and I would not buy. If they are that un-houseproud, they probably would also be pretty un-neighbourly as well. Look at the WHOLE street before you buy. Also, if that house next door is a Rental Property, even if those tenants move, most future renters also wont want to bother looking after the outside of the property any-way. (Not all people, but most)
