out of sight, out of mind. why should they mess up a nice truck when they can toss it out the window and never think about it again?
a guy i work with does it and has no explanation...

Why do people assume that because I smoke that I'm an automatic litter bug? Seriously though, I personally never litter like that, I'll put it in a kleenex in my jacket pocket and toss it when I find the garbage can. I smoke outside so my kids don't breath it, I never smoked at work, nor do I when I drive. Yah there are some who are not as anal about being this way as I am, but not all smokers are the jerks. Just look at all those starshmucks coffee cups rolling down the street!

Those smokers have done it for so long that they don't even think about it as a problem. To me, these people are ignorant and don't care about the environmnent and keeping sidewalks and other public areas clean. Some just believe that it is their right to throw them on the ground, and they are going to do what they want. They don't care what others think about it.

We don't think it's okay. I try not to flick my butts, but sometimes I do it unconciously. It's a habit I picked up when I was in high school. I wasn't worried about it then. But with all the fires, and such, I'm more concious about it now. If i'm at the beach I usually keep my butts in one place then pick it up right before I leave. Why does everyone get on our butt$? Everyone litters. If you produce waste, whether or not you conceal it in a hole in the ground or on the surface, your still littering.

they fell that its not going to hurt the environment they don't even think about some of the consequences that they would have to face. I'm glad that the police is going to do something about it by making people pay a fee for littering. it needs to be done maybe people will notice a trash can around here. its a start. : )

Because smokers are stupid! If you are dumb enough to smoke even though you know smoking kills than you are dumb enough to litter our Earth with your disgusting cigarette butts.

that ticks me off (i was about to say that burns me up but i didnt want it to sound like i was making a joke about a serious matter)
anyway, I dont know why but another thing i hate is when they flick those damn things out the window on the freeway.....what if the car behind them have a gas leak/drip? I hate it!

possibly they treat their body disrespectfully by feeding it poison so littering is not something they think twice about

Well they think it is OK to smoke, so right there their judgment is suspect.
