They are the kind that have brown stripes on the skin, and have a thin skin that is extremely hard to peel, and when you do get them peeled, you still have some of the white stuff left on the orange.

Orange juice might not be bad.

If you aren't from the south you may not know what I'm talking about. These things are nasty. She probably just gave them to me to get them out of her yard.

Do you mean he stole them or grew them organically?

If they are a gift and they are not spoiled, you should enjoy them. Also, a thank you card might be a nice thought.
Save the zest from the peel and freeze it, there are many dishes you can orange zest to that taste great.
If you simmer orange juice with butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, chicken broth and honey it makes a nice sauce for chicken sauteed with onions, broccoli and orange zest.

You can make candied orange peel; or, you can stick whole cloves in them for an organic air freshener for your closet. Just be sure not to put them so far back in the closet you forget about them until they mold.
