You and the co-worker are cordial but not close........you see it flapping in his left nostril first thing in the morning....do you let him go the whole day with it flappin' or do you let him know.....if so...how do you tell him?

You calmly approach him using your little finger and pick it. At that point the proper thing is to give him the first chance to eat it, if he declines that bad boy is all yours.

There's a line here. Is it definitely inside the nostril, or is it hanging low and obvious? I've forever been ingrained with the memory of one of my mother's stories from work ... when a very short co-worker pointed out that she had a booger in her nose, because when she was looking up at my mother, she saw straight up her nose! I'd say that if it's hanging so low as to be obvious, you should let someone know. But if you just happened to notice, and it's up there, let it go...

when you are talking to him, you say, "Hey, you've got something there." and point to his nose. He'll take the hint and it doesn't have to be a big deal. Just be cool. Obviously you are both adults and EVERYbody has boogers! Would you want him to tell you if you had one or would you want him to let you walk around all day with it flapping in your nose? :o) Just be casual and let him know. Or if he's talking to you again, grab a tissue of fyour desk and hand it to him, say, "oh you got a little somehting right there-here ya go"

Its really not a big deal.

It depends if I have to look at it all day or not. If I am gonna have to see him , I wouldnt want to see that thing flapping. I'd probably try telling him he has a smudge on his nostril, and hope that would be enough to get him to wipe it out.
If I didnt have to look at him all day, I'd probably gag, then giggle behind his back.

Oh my, I just about spit a mouthful of coffee all over my monitor when I read KenS.'s answer - too funny in a delightfully gross way - thanks for the much needed laugh!

Anyway, hand him a tissue or say "Hey Bob, you might want to check the mirror" while pointing to your own nose.

Pull the person aside and very discreetly tell them they need to wipe their nose with a tissue.

i would quietly go up with no one else around as soon as i could and say "i thought you'd want to know you've got something hanging out of your nose"

i would SO appreciate someone telling me!!

and it would be a great way to get a friendship (or 'whatever') up with him...something you'll both laugh at later, your own private joke

I'd tell him, even if we were just cordial. I'd say something very quietly along the lines of, "You may want to use a tissue."

Just say (discreetly,) "Oh, I think you have a little something in your nose." He'll take care of it, no harm done. Don't be obvious about it, and don't call it a "booger."

Just discreetly tell him and hand him a tissue. "Hey, man, you've got a little..." and point to your own nose. He'll get the idea.
