1st off i wanna say this im not catholic.. nor supporting non catholics or catholics...
the whole idea of catholicism is that its the one true church of God founded by Jesus Christ himself...that there is 1 true interpretation of the Bible...which is stated in the catholic doctrine... this is what is supposed to make catholicism the one true relgion.. that there is 1 right interpretation and 1 right church... so where do catholics that dont agree with alot of catholic doctrine or "have there own beleifs" come in...
to defy catholic doctrine and have your own interpretation of the bible is to defy the idea the catholicism is the 1 correct way...
sounds protestant to me?
what makes these "liberal catholics" any different from martin luther or any protestant for that matter? cuz they go physically to a catholic church? i thought a religion is based on beleifs not the physical church...

Unfortunately, there are some Catholics who are born to their religion who believe because they were born Catholic they should be given some special boon of sorts. They believe they should be given a prize or special circumstances because they were born into it, but that's all false.

I wasn't baptized Catholic, but I am a Catholic now. And though we can have our own beliefs, it's how we act upon them that decides if we are true Catholics or liberal Catholics. I really don't believe a 'liberal Catholic' is a Catholic, just as people will say they are Baptist because they went to church once and it was at a Baptist church, it doesn't mean they are one. The same for Catholics, many people will say they are because they went to CCD for a few sessions or their parents were.

The truth is, liberal Catholics really aren't Catholic, they're Protestants.

Believing in the Eucharist full-heartedly is what makes me Catholic. If you believe in the Eucharist then you cannot deny the Catholic Church.

Great question. Being Catholic means accepting and believing in ALL that the Church teaches. It means unity of faith and belief among ALL people. There are still some things I don't understand and need to study, but I take it on faith, trusting the Church, and then get busy learning what I don't know.

What makes a Catholic? Read the Apostles Creed; this is a statement of our beliefs. Next, read the catechism if you want to learn her doctrines.

God bless, thank you for your question, and Merry Christmas.

A Catholic Christian worships God, the Holy Trinity, in the Tradition of the Catholic Church.

A summary of Catholic beliefs is contained in the Nicene Creed (from the year 325):

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son, He is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

For a complete description of what Catholics believe, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/index.htm

Most Protestant Christians choose to refute some but not all Catholic traditions. This does not make them non-Christian but, in the opinion of the Catholic Church, they are not accepting the fullness of the gifts that Jesus Christ has given us.

With love in Christ.

If you are asking what makes ME Catholic, it is belief in the Eucharist being the Body and Blood, it is belief in apostolic succession, it is reverence for Mary, it is belief in a right to life for everyone, it is belief in Reconciliation as forgiveness of sins, and many other things that make me both a Catholic and a Christian.

If you are asking what makes those who do not believe in the teachings of the Church Catholic...nothing. They are not true Catholics.

In my Opinion, amongst the qualities are hypocrisy, a sense of superiority, a government like structure that collects money all over the world and sends people in to unfamiliar territories for more business just like McDonnalds and other greedy corporations.

First off, there is absolutely No truth to the Roman Catholic church "being the true church of God" founded by Jesus!

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!

1.Do you really believe that Jesus would murder those that didn't see things exactly as He did?

2.Replace the Holy Seventh Day Sabbath with the Sabbath of the Sun?

3.Go Against His Father's command and follow the way of the Pagan?

4.Teach that Mary is the immaculate conception and should be worshiped and prayed to?

5.Break every one of the Ten Commandments of God Almighty?

These are but a few reasons to know that the Catholic way is the wrong way and the wrong church.

Remember, that Satan is the Great Deceiver and He is everywhere he is needed!

"In whom the god (Satan) of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, Who is the Image of God, should shine unto them." II Cor. 4:4

What Makes You Catholic is following Satan and his deception . . . please read the Bible and learn what is truth, because Satan has no truth in him.

May God Bless You!
