Hi there,
Little bit of adjustment in your diet regime can make a lot of difference for any gastro-intestinal upsets, which include reflux eosophagitis also.
Try to find out when you are suffering to the maximum. According to that, a
re-arrangement in the "timing", then readjustment of the "menu" in the form of reduction of pulses, potatoes, with more of vegetables will help you a lot.
Lunch should be the main food of the day, with an early dinner, not later than 8 pm.
You may have to say "gud bye" to aerated drinks and alcohol ...and drink....lots and lots of water.
But dont starve...have small frequent meals...okay ?
and reduce fried items and oily items...
best wishes....

Go see a Gastroenterologist. That's what I did after having swallowing/choking problems and they finally diagnosed it as Achalasia. Most people with a form of this also have Hiatal hernias and acid reflux. I have nether. It took a few tests to determine what was wrong but now that they have figured it out I am having surgery and it will be back to normal in January. Sometimes a second opinion helps too. My first Dr wanted to keep me just on the acid pills but I knew there had to be something more there, so I went on my own, against my Drs wishes and got a second opinion and I am so glad I did. Take my advice and get it checkd out, I have been dealing with this for 11 long months and I can't wait for January to get here. I wished I would have gotten my second opinion a long time ago.

This might seem lame but I was having terrible acid and reflux and I thought I had some kind of ulcer it was bad. I was using that whitening toothpaste and that whitening stuff was making me sick. Just a thought but some things can have a bad reaction on you. Just a thought. Google anti reflux diets too that can help because diet can totally bring it on

Aciphex is not the best medicine for ARD. I'd go with Prilosec or Nexium. Even generic over the counter zantac and pepcid work better than aciphex.
Have you changed your diet? Try eating less spicy foods, less gas producing foods. You may need to go on a bland diet for a few weeks until your stomach has a chance to catch up. Don't miss taking your pills either. Aciphex won't work properly unless taken every day whether you feel that burn or not.

I have acid reflux as well and I take Prevacid on a daily basis. It really helps. I haven't had any symptoms unless I have forgotten my pill for a couple of days. Yours seems to sound worse. I have friends who have taken Nexium and it really helped them because it repairs at the same time it treats. In a nutshell, they both do the same thing, but Nexium is supposed to repair it quicker. Hope that helps!

hi i also have acid reflux problems for the past two years.
i am currently taking protonix 40 mg and it helps alot. my doctor also said dont eat spicy foods, chocolate, mints, fried and fatty foods too. but i still do. also excess weight contributes too. when you go to bed make sure that your head is not flat, then the acid backs up into your esophagus and causes the choking feeling, shortness of breath, and a sour taste in your mouth.
hopefully my advice helps you.

I have just seen a Specialist, who diagnosed me with this. He says I have 'leaks' in my esophagus and my stomach leaks into my esophagus.......this makes me have a sore throat (like acid has been in my throat), bloating, a sore belly, and the feeling that I must vomit. He told me to stop eating chocolate, any spicy foods, garlic, onions, tomatoes and tomato sauce products, any citrus foods or drinks, caffeine in any form (coffee, tea, whatever). He told me to take Prevacid every day. This information has made me change how I eat and how I drink. No more fruit juices for me. When I follow what he said I could NOT eat, I feel really better. I take the Prevacid every day. It helps so much. I hope this helps you.

Eat small portions of food several times a day. Prop up the head end of your bed about three inches, so you are not horizontal when you sleep.
If you are overweight, lose some weight.
Over the counter medications, like Pepsid complete, work better than most prescription medicines.
