i've been told that there are very few differences between the two beliefs, and that these differences are basically what keeps them at war with each other. what are the differences and what makes them such "different" beliefs??

please no stupid, ignorant, bashing answers. i want respectful answers.

I, sincerely, pray that it will never come to Christianity vs Islam.

Now, as to the position of Jesus in the Koran, I'd got confused by a lot of Muslims saying things that I couldn't find in the copy of the Koran that I'd studied, so I asked this Question about what the Koran had to say about Jesus Christ [link given below] and you can see from the Best Answer that I selected, that there isn't much difference there, but, you'll find a lot of Muslims denying these.

I'm not the Expert, but, in my opinion, the key difference between the two is regarding the Crucifixion which we Christians believe happened and the Resurrection; because there are many eye-witness accounts of that period in the Testaments for us to refer to.

However, Mohammad said that he had a "Revelation" which told him that Jesus was not crucified; but, instead, Judas was miraculously converted to look like Jesus and was crucified in His place.

There is another thing about Allah being the Greatest Deceiver of all which we don't agree with. Because, very simply put, God is not known as the Deceiver because that is one of the titles of Satan.

There are many other little points upon which we'd disagree, like the rolling back to old Jewish Customs, by Mohammad, like the circumcision[bar and bath mitzvah to the Jews, Sunnat to the Muslims], wearing of the skull cap by the men and the head covering [kipot to the Jews, hijab to the Muslims] by the women etc; because we believe that Jesus preached advancement, not retrogression.

About the "War" menace, however, it's something much more serious. Because the Koran does say that they may kill those who attack their Faith and an Imam can say that even a criticism is an attack on their Faith and that would be cause enough, to the fanatic.

Let's assume that only 5 % of the Muslims are radical fanatics and yet, we have 80 million of them to contend with!?

Remember that these people are always armed to the teeth and carry AK 47s and grenades and rocket launchers etc, paid for by the "religious tax" collected from all the moderate Muslims and you can see how dangerous this is.

Now, let's assume that only 10 % of those or half a percent of the Muslims could be suicidal maniacs ready to die for their Faith and we get 8 million such fanatics !?

Can you imagine the kind of damage that 8 million suicide bombers can make?

Do you know that this is more than the combined Armies of UK, USA and Australia?

So, you see, this will leave the rest of us no other alternative than to use our more powerful weapons against them, if push comes to shove; and that would be a disaster with innumerable collateral damage of innocent moderate Muslims!

Now, I hope you see why I pray that it won't come to that.

The Muslims should really be addressing this problem of their fanatics very seriously, because they are forcing the world to consider stronger action, day after day.

Peace.

I'm not trying to offend any Christian, but how can Jesus possibly be the son of god? God is one and for one to see Him, let alone be His son is quite unbelievable. For this I agree Islam is the truthful religion because god is one and no one can see him until the end. Also, how many times was the bible modified. The Quaran has never been changed. The Quran describes things that will blow your mind from a book written 1400 y/a. Such as, the 7 layers of the earth, how the embryo is formed how Issa (AS) (Jesus) was born.

Islam, like Judaism has many similarites to Christianity with the problem being which is the "true" faith.

"Allah" is arabic for God.

The Muslims acknowledge Jesus, but like the Jews see him as a prophet, not the Messiah.

Of course, to the Christians that is blasphamy.

Also, the Muslims do not worship Muhammed. They do not see him as Divine. He was also the last of God's Prophets.

Going back to Jesus, the Muslims see the idea of Christians worshiping Jesus as divine to be blasphamy in that it violates the Commandment of "Having no other God but me."

Like the Christians, the Muslims have used thier "Holy Books" to justify their actions like killing in God's name, torture.

Finally, according to Islam, Muhammed is descended from Abraham in that his ancestor was Abraham's son who was born of a servant girl while he was trying to get Sarah knocked up...and as a teacher once told the class, only family can hate each other that much.

Dear sister,
God created the world , and all us human beings.....to guide us all to the straight path , God revealed many books, and send many prophets to guide mankind.....

The Jews rejected Jesus christ pbh because they were content with their books and the prophets pbt send to them......
The christians are falling in the same trap of being content with the Bible.... & Jesus christ pbh...

It is your duty as a human being created by "The lord " to check whether the Quran is revealed by the same GOD.. "The Lord".....

It is like the boss gave you one order last month and again this month... and you refuse to obey this months order because you got an order Last month....

Is "The Lord" dead or living ........ LIVING ...... Then why cant he reveal more books after the Bible.......

when you go to buy a bible the shopkeeper asks you which version of the Bible do you want .....Did God reveal all these versions of the Bible.... NO....
Then how come so many Bibles are in existence ... It is because Human and "The Lords" words have got mixed up...

People even remove chapters all together,,, because they believe they are human words

As Human words and Gods words got mixed God has revealed his last book The Quran......

So it is your duty as a Human being , created by the ONLY GOD... to read the Quran and find out whether it is for "The Lord" .... that Jesus Christ pbh used to worship?

........
As Salam Alaikum (Peace be on you... the muslims use the same salutations that was used by Jesus Christ pbh)

For a fellow brother Aenarion.

We muslims beilieve that Jesus Christ pbh is the Mesiah... it is given in the Quran....in many places..... Few of them are.....
Sura 3. Al Imran
45
When the angels said "O Maryem! Allah gives you the good news with a Word from Him that you will be given a son: his name will be Messiah, Isa (Jesus Christ) the son of Maryem. He will be noble in this world and the Hereafter; and he will be from those who are very close to Allah.

Quran Sura 4. An Nissa
157
They even say: "We have killed the Messiah, Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam, the Rasool of Allah." Whereas in fact, neither did they kill him nor did they crucify him but they thought they did because the matter was made dubious for them. Those who differ therein are only in doubt. They have no real knowledge, they follow nothing but merely a conjecture, certainly they did not kill him (Jesus).

Quran Sura 4 An Nisaa
O People of the Book! Do not transgress the limits of your religion. Speak nothing but the Truth about Allah. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary was no more than a Messenger of Allah and His Word "Be" which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit from Him which took the shape of a child in her womb. So believe in Allah and His Messengers and do not say: "Trinity"." Stop saying that, it is better for you. Allah is only One Deity. He is far above from the need of having a son! To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and in the Earth. Allah Alone is sufficient for protection.[171]

The main differences are that Christians believe Jesus was the son of God, while Muslims believe he was a prophet, that Christians believe the Bible to be accurate, while Muslims believe the Bible was accurate but has been corrupted by repeated edits and translations, and that Muslims believe Mohammad was a prophet while Christians don't.

Islam claims Jesus was a prophet ,not the son of God.

The Old Testament and Koran seem almost identical- then some things change.

The Major Difference is Jesus. Islam puts Him in the place of a Great Prophet only, while in Christianity, we put Him as God's Son and our Saviour

There are few but fundametal differences:

Divinity:
In Islam God is One and Absolute who needs not to beget and nor He is begotton.
In Chriatinty God is Trinity Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Sin
Islam believe Not in Original Sin, but Original Forgivenss -
when Adam and Eve disobayed God in the Garden of Eden, they repented and were Forgiven...thus all human beings, being human and imperfect, when they commit sin, God forgiveness is always available if the person acknowleges his sin and repent.

Christianity:
Gad made human perfect...but he was not perfect afterall because they committed sin..doesn't this make God imperfect?
God cannot forgive them right away..so thausands of year later..he comes up with 'Jesus plan' and the concept of Trinity to forgive man.

Islam
beleives in all prophet of God from adam to Abraham to Moses and Jesus who all called people to worship One God.

Christianity considers prophets of God as human (therefore evil natured) as any other human beings in this world. They donnt beleive in God's Final prophet . prophet Muhammad.

Respectfully and HONESTLY, the two do NOT worship the same "god". This means that the God of Christianity is NOT "allah".

Why?

Simple. When muhammed was inventing islam, he specifically denied and rejected the divine nature of Jesus, Son of the one true God. In so doing, he therefore denied and rejected God Himself. Hence "allah" that is NOT God.

Further, muhammed self-proclaimed himself as a "prophet" in the complete absence of even the slightest shred of substantiation. That was pretty bad. But, he went further and declared the Christ and Savior to be a "lesser prophet" under muhammed. This is considered to be blasphemy and extremely disrespectful.

Obviously a HUGE gulf between the two. And NO this can NOT be reconciled.
