One of my brothers ran away when he was 16 because our family was moving and he wanted to stay. He flunked out of school. He let his friends down (he was a starting football player
at his high school) and didn't have many left when he got back. My parents spent a fortune, that they didn't have, hiring private investigators to find him.
My father almost lost his job (of 25 years) because he couldn't function from the worry. He was hospitalized for a mental breakdown.
My youngest sister was taken from homeless
shelter to homeless shelter by my father to try to find him. She was 10 years old and was in a gifted and talented school. She ended up repeating that year of school. She remembers that now, at age 35, as the worst year of her life.
My mother held the family together, barely. Her health also suffered. They had to live in hotels for months, because they had sold their home and were terrified that if they moved too far away, they would never find him again.
Finally a PI found him hanging out in Boston (12 hour drive away) with some members of his Guatemalan girlfriend's family. (She's a lovely woman, but some of her family definitely are not.) He was having a ball and was making a living dealing drugs and who knows what else to survive. The police had to get involved to get him home.
To this day, relationships are strained with all the siblings when he is involved in anything. He is still oblivious to how much he hurt the family. Those who run away are selfish unless they are being physically abused. Period.

At least in NM runaways that are living in a safe situation and not engaged in illegal activity cannot be compelled by the police to return from whence they came, nor can the police tell their parents or guardians where they are, nor can they be detained by the police.
Get on the web and research your state laws and google youth shelters US.
You are subject to the other countries laws while ther and could get into much more trouble.

I was always told you cant run away? You must face your problems head on,like a man,or woman in my case.I was always tought that respect goes a long way,and to treat others the way you would like to be treated.Make the best of what you have.
Mando is no support for his cause, unfortunatley he is like most illegals, hence the reason American citizens dont care about their whinning. Hey Mando, want some cheese with that whine?
As for your question, things could be worse,YOU,are the only one that can make things better,If you run,you are only hurting yourself, and not anybody. God bless.

Trouble is there are very few places to run to any more. Just have to get lost in the crowd.

You can run, but you can't hide. Wherever you go, you take yourself with you. You're hurting yourself, at the very least. Doesn't solve the problem, unless you are being severely abused.

Why is it bad? Because you don't have the courage to stand up to what you are running away from. Once a runner, always a runner... I trust you not, nope... not a bit.
