you need to check with your benefits dept. sometimes it is covered if you have disability insurance. i was on bed rest and my dis. insurance only covered it for 3 months. also preg. falls under the FMLA for 3 months and sometimes it can be extended for anthor 3 months it also depends on your companys policy. if you have a car payment or other loans and pay for dis. insurance look into that to because my car payment was covered as long as i wasnt able to work ( 4 months) hope this helps!

You can get state disability if you have been told by your Dr. that you have to stay in bed. You can't get workmans comp.because pregnancy is not a work related incident.
Pick up the forms from the EDD office.
Fill out your part and then take them to your Dr. so they can fill out thier part and send them off for you.
You can get the forms online as well. Your Dr. may even have the forms.
The FMLA only protects your job for you unless your employer has given you eatra benefits beyond what they have to by law, the state disability is the only option usually.

I was on bed rest for three mths. My employer made me use both FMLA and short term disability. But I'm sure each employer has different guidelines. Read your benefits booklet it should go over it in there.

FMLA is unpaid time off. The disability would depend. It is extremely doubtful that you will be able to since it is not declared as an accident or injury or illness. Been in the same shoes myself.

I don't think so. You can invoke your FMLA privileges, but you don't get paid while you are off. However, you can take up to six months off and know that your job is secure. I don't think you'd fall into the disability catagory either.
Do you have Aflac insurance by chance? I know some of their policies cover that sort of thing.

Disability insurance payments will not be directly from your employer but via the insurance company covering you under your benefits, you may have private insurance as well. Check with your personnel office to ensure you are covered as well as your private insurance. The insurance company will either verify with your doctor directly or you will require confirmation from your doctor that bedrest is required.
I wish you well.

If your doctor says you need bed rest during pregnancy then you would qualify for short term disability in most cases. You can't collect it without medical need as determined by a doctor.
